Wow, could be a career ender.
The Bad: It sounds like the DVT caused his initial pain when he woke a few days ago, so this probably wasn't caused by injury.
The Good: Repetitive strain in the arm can cause these from time to time in bball and tennis players, typically only needs 3 months of blood thinners.
Hopefully he doesn't get a second clot.

Well, that sucks.

How does that make you better than the Lin, Gallo, and Wil fans who root for them over NY?

I never thought I'd say this until the last week: Can we just simulate the rest of the season like NBA 2K? God damn.
He was closing the gap on Tatum over the last month. Now, all you can hope for is just for him to get healthy and not have an issue like this again, which can absolutely happen.
Thoughts are with BI. Hopefully he goes outside the organization to get the correct medical help he needs. I wouldn't trust these jokers with my pinky finger, let alone blood clots.

There was no tangible gap between Ingram and Tatum really, only the one that existed in Boston fans' and Lakers haters minds. I don't care that Tatum looked good for a few weeks in May last year.
Just to touch on something I noticed from the first page... I don't know why fans always seem to think that its cool if they complain incessantly (and in this case rightfully so) about their favorite team's front office, but then act shocked, confused, or even upset when a player makes public complaints themselves. Like, they're the ones that actually have to work for the company.
Ingram's condition is bigger than basketball, and I just want the kid to be okay more than anything else. The harrowing part is that this is one of those "Sit and wait and see and hope" situations.

Blood clots are scary. I had a huge bruise while traveling internationally; AFTER I flew back I had it looked at and was told in fact I shouldn't fly for a month or two. The concern was all about the possibility of a clot traveling to where it was dangerous.

Blood clots are nothing to be messed with. Having nearly lost by brother-in-law to one back in 2000. He was a fireman in Anchorage and was in phenomenal shape. He had a clot in his leg move to his lungs and survived it barely.... just barely. The blood thinners they put you on to prevent future clots typically come with significant side effects and limitations on contact sports because of the threat of internal bleeding from basic contact.
If he's got a blood disorder that led to the clotting then he's lucky they caught it now. The downside as a fan (and it's trivial in comparison to his life) is that he may be limited as a player.... similar to Bosh's condition. Let's hope it isn't that drastic.

Ingram Blod clot same issue as Bosh?
How serious is this injury? At first glance I thought it was just a shoulder injury but FO decided to shut him down to be super cautious and to tank... now I'm reading the blood clot same issue that Bosh had.. can this be career ending?
BI finally broke through and turned into that 20+ player magic was expecting last year. BI is a good kid with a great work ethic. Hope this isn't anything serious. I can't find much info on his injury tho

Bosh had it in his leg which is more serious. Ingram's is extremely rare, apparently.

been reading from random people that it can be treated through blood thinning in which he would need to be on meds from 3mos to a year with no basketball. supposedly he can completely recover and continue playing unless he develops a second which could then end his career. no source tho, just based from other people’s comments about their own experiences

Bosh also had a recurrence, not a single one time clot

This whole thing is much scarier than first glance... sucks since hes so young. Could also jeopardize trade value

A one time blood clot can be from impact. If it is a recurring thing like in Bosh's case, they have to use blood thinners which aren't conducive for contact sport like basketball or soccer.

blood clots can happen from provoked events such as trauma, surgery, or medications
blood clots in young people are not particularly common
tin foil hat theory: he's cycling on steroids and uses a tamoxifen-like drug in his rotation that increases the risks for clots.
