What's wrong with next season? Seems fine if you're okay with losing guys like Daniels, Bulaga, and Graham
With only 31 guys under contract we are allready at 160 million in cap space spent with the only way of opening up space is releasing Graham.

It's not cap hell but the cap pinch becomes very real next year when it comes to filling out the roster

Gotcha. Thought maybe I was missing something major. Obviously gotta keep an eye on Clark and Bakhtiari. Rather not have them test free agency at all

Do not have many holes on the team, i would do three things this draft;

1. Trade down at 12 to accumulate more picks (hopefully late firsts and early 2nds)
2. Make 4-5 selections (in the first 3 rounds) to address your biggest needs; pass rush, safety, TE, OL and WR (use your late picks to trade up to get the guys you really want)
3. Any picks not used to trade up you punt them for the 2020 draft (the New England way) so you have extra picks to accommodate the potential cap issues you have next season

One thing to also consider is the current draft picks are not on next year's projected cap and next year's draft picks are not included on next year's projected cap. In the current cap they have the benefit of incremental increases since when one player is added the bottom player on the top 51 is removed from the cap. Since they only have like 30 guys counting toward next year right now you have to add around $10 million for this draft and $10 million for the next draft and suddenly they are already at $180 million plus whatever cap number Clark will have and they still are not at 51.

Yeah, I considered that. Only thing I might be missing is the salary cap projection. I'm assuming it'll grow a bit

Watched the Rock Reports on Zadarius and Preston. Makes me feel a little better about the signings....I guess that’s what it’s supposed to do.

I forgot Zadarius was the guy who basically destroyed us during that Ravens/Hundley game.

Yeah, I'm still really happy we got both. I was hopeful to get one of the Smith's at the start of free agency and the fact that we got both was huge. Didn't expect them to get as much as they did but that's the price to compete for free agents. Amos was just the cherry on top. Still a little puzzled with the Turner move, but Gute/LaFleur must see something we don't. He'll be a good rotational piece along the line and probably get starts at RG and RT this year.

That’s how I feel....I actually liked Preston no Zadarius because I thought they would be bargains. When I heard the contracts given, it kind of scared me. Hopefully this doesn’t end like our Cleditus Hunt/Joe Jackson type of signings. A lot of Packer who never even knew who these guy said were are exciting to be spending, if they don’t live up to their contracts I don’t want to hear about it.

The number of Packers fans that I have heard say that exact quote is a lil depressing.

I hope these guys live up to their contracts but let's be honest at least one is going to become absolutely hated for his deal (hell if a guy like Sweat drops to us at least one, probably Z Smith, instantly becomes the most hated Packer on the internet for making huge money but not being more then a rotational guy and Preston Smith also probably becomes the 2nd most hated for not being a playmaker)

We're better today then we were before FA and really only have a big problem with the Turner signing (although I am with you I thought both Smiths would be cheaper) but damn if I'm not going to roll my eyes next year when posts start popping up about how horrible it is we're paying one of these guys big money

Didn't see it posted on this thread, but Silverstein reported yesterday that we had Curtis Riley (ex-Giants safety) in the building and he left without a deal. To me, it seems like we're still trying to upgrade the safety position, so I'm hopeful that we'll at least try to attempt to sign Berry or Boston to a manageable deal.

Which is more likely to happen...we all win the lottery or you show even an ounce of optimism on this board.

I've called moves I thought were good good. I've called moves I thought were bad bad. If that's too much for you and think everyone should be on board with every move the Packers make then good day sir

Definitely not saying to be on board with every move, but have some merit. Both smiths are playing in a new system under a new coach. Why should we, a week after they sign, “be honest” that one is going to become the most hated player on the Packers?

That just playing the odds. Much like how you dont hit every draft pick you're not going to hit every FA signing and when a big cap number is attached to a player that's not living up to the deal fans tend to turn pretty quickly.

You mean like fans excited over signing players they dont know much about? Or the type of fans that I was referencing in the first place?

In any case though fans equate contract with performance when shaping how the feel about players. It is what it is
