The Suns will have a team option on the second season of Fredette's contract.

The NBA is becoming more Jimmar Fredette friendly in terms of style of play but I still have my doubts that he can succeed.

Last time we saw him he was still a tad bit short, a tad bit selfish, a defensive liability and not quite a pure enough shooter to bury a high percentage off ball.

could be the kind of guy that just needs the right situation. actually, most NBA players are that kind of guy as the skill variance is minimal in this league.

I hope to see Jimmer succeed but this doesn't seem like a move the Suns should make. Bad defense gets worse.

Not sure I agree with this the way you worded it. I think it’s more a case of some players figure out what they need to do to contribute and stay in the league while others simply never figure it out. Whether that’s fitting your skill set into a team environment or developing new skills that make you more valuable. That’s why you usually see that once guys establish themselves and smart, reliable rotation players, they end up staying in the league for a long time on multiple teams.

And when you’re a guy like Jimmer, playing with the ball in your hands your entire life, learning to play without the ball is a pretty huge change. He’s just not good enough to be an on the ball player at this level.

team option for year 2, eh? guess the suns haven't decided whether they will be tanking in 2020-2021 yet
the donald, always unpopular, did worse in EVERY state in 2020. and by a greater margin in red states! 50 independently-run elections, none of them rigged

This is a feel good story which should serve as inspiration to others who go off to China and elsewhere. There are paths back to the NBA. Jimmer was lighting it up nightly in China. Of course the competition is different, but the 3point line is the same, no? The Suns need offense and Jimmer could be a poor man's JJ Reddick

If you discount his rookie year, he's actually about a 40% three point shooter (not sure of onball/offball or any breakdowns)...and he still busted out of the league easily due to other flaws. I mean I guess offball shooting is pretty important for him, since you definitely do not want to run the ball through him all the time and use him to spot up.

I'd like to see them give him a full fledged volume shooter spot just to see how it turns out. I never understood why the Kings didn't do it. They had nothing to lose and neither do the Suns.

The Suns have been running 40-year old Jamal Crawford at the point throughout the season.
Crawford has been the worst defensive guard in the league for quite a few years now.
Jimmer can't be any worse.
