Lately, teams have had to be well above .500 to make the playoffs in the west. The 8th seed Spurs are 11 games over .500 now. Unless we're able to make a good trade, it's hard to see this team being much above .500 to win. We're back to relying on Dame/CJ having hot shooting nights.

The Blazers may as well trade off CJ, develop the young guys and try to get a good pick.

Given what Bosnians have suffered in recent history, but doing so with great hardiness, I expect Nurkic to wrap his leg and rejoin the starting unit when the Blazers return from this recent road trip. A very resilient people are the Bosnians.

devastated thing...he is second in NetRtg in the entire West

only silver lininig in this is that he will have plenty of time to work on his three point shot and that could become legit weapon in his arsenal. i hope he made a comeback about march next yeat, just to shake the rust and test those threes

Portland might tank next season or trade CJ...I think Simons could become really good in perspective

Simons has looked very good in very few minutes at times, and you can tell the kid is a born scorer in the league he has a lightning fast shot and he seems to be capable of hitting shots from anywhere on the court with regularity.

I doubt Portland hard tanks next season though even without Nurkic this team likely wins about 40ish games assuming CJ+Damian are healthy, now if we trade CJ then maybe we could see a 30ish win season but that is still not enough to get a high pick in most cases.

I also am very eager on seeing how Collins will look getting a large chunk of minutes night in night out with Nurkic down.

I don't see how the Blazers are missing CJ. I actually enjoy not having to deal with seeing his stupid 1 on 1 play.

Any updates on CJ? On March 17th the report was "will be re-examined in a week". I haven't heard a peep since then and it has been almost 3 weeks.

CJ hasn't participated in a full practice yet so I guess we won't see him on the court this regular season.

He did three on three over the weekend and flew with the team to Denver, but he's out tonight.

Woj reported on ESPN countdown there's a chance CJ returns on Sunday, team is optimistic but won't rush him, but certainly plan for him to be back for the playoffs.

Yep, CJ definitely wants to get back out there and having his first game be game 1 of the playoffs sounds like a daunting thing. Most guys prefer to get a few games under their belt before they have a huge test in the playoffs.

nurk is walking without cruches and he walks like he didnt break his leg... i guess this is a good sign and im really optimistic well see him back on the court around the all-star break to catch the form for the playoffs (if we get there)

He's looking very good walking on his own. You wouldn't even know he'd had a serious injury if you hadn't read the papers....

Promising signs indeed.

Nurkic walking without limping two months after breaking his leg isn't really surprising. He may still have some form of cast or splint on his leg. The reports were clean cross-breaks, no spiral fractures, with no ligament or muscle damage. My brother had a similar injury and was walking somewhat normally within 7 weeks. He couldn't keep weight and motion on it for any long periord though without pain.

I don't know if Nurk is ahead of schedule...maybe. But just walking 2 months after wouldn't be an indicator

It sure would be nice to have an official update to his injury, and know when he might be returning.
