Thornton hasn't had the feel for his breaking stuff in the first couple innings. Even with a good fastball, the odds are pretty good that you'll get one thumped if you can only throw heat in fastball counts.

I'm going to guess the weather is a factor. Tougher to get a good feel and grip of the ball when it's cold out there.

Impressed with Telez and the patience he has at the plate for a young player.

With the dozens of things I have to watch tonight baseball comes in a distant last. But I did manage to see galvis not only get a hit but a homerun! It was almost unbelievable. Although we only had one hit to that point which is more what I expected to see lol

Thornton with his B- stuff and struck out 7 in 5.2 IP. There's something there; perhaps Cleveland's scuffling offense played a role, but he got a lot of fastballs by people on a night when they had every reason to sit fastball.

The early returns on Shoemaker and Thornton look good. Let's see how they fare against Boston and New York.

Alex Hanson in ~600 career plate appearances has an OBP of .270 and is mediocre at best with the glove. Curious as to why he's on the major league roster.

He can play a bunch of positions badly, which is neat.

Why bother with instant replay? Clear tag with Ramirez off the bag and they call him safe. Ridiculous.

3 hits In 9 innings. Nothing if we aren't consistent anyways

Man, I hope Vald/Bo/Biggio pan out, and soon. I'm a die hard fan so I'll watch, but a full season of this would be excruciating.

I hope so too Lateral Quicks. Tough watching this team right now, especially with the hitting.

We need Vlad/Bo/etc to pan out, but the big question over the next couple years is whether we'll have a pitching staff to back them. Thornton is a real positive sign in that regard; will need to be consistent, but he has definite major league stuff.

As much as this season will likely suck overall, I'm pretty relaxed so long as bits of our future are starting to come into focus. We need top-echelon players still, but it's easier to envision our road to success if we can pencil in a couple mid-rotation starters, especially if we can flip one or both of Stroman/Sanchez for substantial value.

Tough times to be a Jays fan right now, so here's something to help brighten the mood:

Wonder if they'll bat Galvis top 2 today? Pretty much him and Urena are only ones that are hitting lol

This is what everyone was saying last April as well and then he ended up ripping the cover off the ball the final 3 months. Maybe he’s just a slow starter in the Encarnacion mold?

Nurse is below average at best.
Masai is overrated.
I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.
