It's very unlikely to matter at all. Both the Cavs and the Suns would have to be outside of the top-4.

Not that unlikely really. Like a 50/50 chance for bothdarmani wrote:It's very unlikely to matter at all. Both the Cavs and the Suns would have to be outside of the top-4.

22.9% chance that both the Cavs and the Suns won't be in the top-4.

I would think for Gentry having Griff in the front office would be a benefit to him.
I know this much, Jones should be calling Griff to just "say hi, ask about Jrue" - just put it out there
Thought I saw something that mentioned AD may reconsider staying in NO. I hope at the very least he doesn’t go to LA, I’m not sure he wants to be another one of Lebrons horsemen (Wade/Bosh/Irving/Love). I really hope the damage is already done and the Pels trade AD to the Celtics where they can offer ultimately the best package not including Zion. And then yes, we can trade for Jrue hopefully.

I'm a little jealous that we weren't able to make something happen with Griff, but it'd be no surprise if he wouldn't want to work under Sarver again. Griffin was on TV earlier this year talking about how he wouldn't trade Jrue Holiday if they lose AD because he thinks they can still build a competitive team out of the pieces they'd get in return, so I doubt Jrue will be on the block. I don't think this changes anything with AD either.
Losing the coin flip to Cleveland really only stings because we never win them. Same odds for the picks that matters, and I don't think there's very much difference between picking 6 and 7 in this draft should the worst happen. If we're not in the position to draft Zion or Ja, then this draft doesn't have a lot for us to be excited about.
edit: Here's the video of Griff saying he wouldn't trade Jrue and is very high on him.

At what point does AD look at the Lakers and say... F- that!
The Pelicans are a decent team. He's gotta a better long term running mate with Jrue plus the young talent then with 36 year old Lebron and a Laker organization in turmoil. Dude should just take that sweet sweet supermax.
Agree 100% on the coinflip too. Meh. Who cares. Doesn't matter.

I guess things can change but with the **** scorched earth style AD handled himself down the stretch it's hard to see them making up and moving forward. Plus I just don't think he wants to be in New Orleans anymore regardless of who's he's playing with.

Re: Season speculation, free agency, and trade ideas: #ValleyBoyz rise up
Driving around this afternoon - caught some Burns and GAmbo for two segments and they actually talked Suns
Segment 1: Point Guard
Gambo says one of Okobo or Melton will be gone; Gambo thinks Okobo stays
Suns want to get two point guards - would love to get Ja Morant and a veteran
The veteran options are: Collison, McConnell, Rubio and Corey Joseph. He was pushing for Joseph hard.
Burns asked about Russell, Rozier and Brogdon. He has soured on Rozier - so thats good
No word on Power Forward but I was good with the names mentioned save McConnell. The Suns need a starter. As for Morant -- still need a veteran. I am good getting the 4th - 6th pick - cheaper, more cap space elsewhere
Segment 1: Luke being fired
Only a little about if Luke were a candidate in Phoenix - Gambos says No. He also said if they move from Igor that Dave Joerger is not a candidate. I was waiting for him to say Kidd but more than anything, he just nixed Luke and Joerger' I hope that means Igor is staying.

Interesting. Sounds like a grounded version of Gambo. I just hope they don't take Ja if they get the first pick.

Great point, I believe that Bgood also mentioned that the Pels would be unlikely to trade Jrue, back when we were talking trading for him a while back.
So the logical overall consensus, is that Jrue most likely isn't going to be a realistically attainable option for us.
So if that's the case , then who does that realistically leave us with as primary targets utilizing a trade scenario???
For my part, I would still consider a trade for either Conley or Lowry (if possible). Using the expiring contract of Tyler Johnson and Warren, The money matches up perfectly.
Then ***IF*** we get Morant, he can understudy behind Conley for 2 years until ready to take over. If we land at 6 or 7, and miss out on Morant, No big deal.
We then take either Brandon Clarke or Mfiondu Kabengele(Great trade back option I believe, given his skillset). And Fill out our roster with depth and shooters in free agency.
I like Kabengele a bit more than even Clarke next to Ayton due to his size at 6'10 250 lbs, Also his being mobile and a good shotblocker, And of course his great 3 point shooting skillset too.
Same situation in a trade with Lowry. But Lowry becomes a huge expiring for us to use towards a star(max player) in a trade if we choose..
...perhaps Griffin??
I believe that we could do a trade such as listed above, and with the trade covering our need for a veteran point guard, We can then use our pick to trade back for Clarke/Kabengele/ etc. plus an additional asset.
While of course maintaining our cap space ( from moving Tyler Johnson and Warren) to get a floor spacing big man in free agency and then use our exception on a Patrick Beverley type.

My thoughts. If you're not looking to hire a coach with a track record then absolutely don't fire Igor. I have no interest in hiring some top assistant.BobbieL wrote:Driving around this afternoon - caught some Burns and GAmbo for two segments and they actually talked Suns

Makes sense that one of Melton or Okobo get shipped out especially if they draft a PG.
Joseph is an interesting name who I don't see being back in Indi. He really didn't play well this year so could be a cheap prove it contract option.

Corey Joseph is exactly the type of player I expected/hope Okobo becomes.

I'd take Collison or Rubio. Not sure Corey Joseph is really an upgrade to sticking with Tyler Johnson. McConnell is a back-up point guard in this league. Russell and Brogdon aren't going anywhere. I'm glad the Rozier train slowed down. He plays tough on defense, takes care of the ball, and shoots the ball well, but the idea of paying him 8 digits was never attractive.

Re: Season speculation, free agency, and trade ideas: #ValleyBoyz rise up
I think I like Collison and then Beverley. I would like Jones more if he shot a little better, but I still like him ok. Joseph started the season really well but really dropped off after the first couple of months, and was really bad the last couple of months. Rubio I would like if he could shoot, but he can't and I don't really think our team can afford to have a PG that can't shoot.
We don't really even have anyone who shoots above league average from 3 other than Warren or Daniels, and I think most people expect both to be gone.
I expect Bridges shooting to improve, and hope Booker's does from deep, and hope Jackson continues his shooting from March into next season if he's here.
Igor (if around) will probably make sure everyone is shooting though. Hopefully Oubre can improve his shot as well. And Tyler Johnson. And then Ayton. Kind of sucks to have to pretty much say it about everyone.

So where the hell does that leave Tyler Johnson? I hope they plan to maybe make him play his natural position which is 2 guard.

Gambo said Tyler as the backup 2 who can play the point next to Booker. So that makes sense
Granted if there is a trade for Jrue - it will cost Tyler.
I would take Collison and Aminu and call it an off-season. And if we can keep TJ - that would be ideal but I think odds are the least to keep I would think. I still prefer TJ over JJ and the non Zion FRP
