Barrett would be really tempting at #3. We have so many wings already, but we could really use that to our advantage.
If we get 4 or less, we better trade the pick + other assets for a PG.
Would be nice to trade 3 for Boston 9 and 12 if we could get Clarke and (coby or Garland )

Suns have the option of picking Ja, Pels are intrigued by the prospect of pairing Zion and Ja. We flip Tyler, Warren and Ja for Jrue.
Jrue, Melton, Okobo
Booker, Bridges
Oubre, Jackson
FA, Bender (re-signed)
Ayton, Holmes (re-signed)

But why? Ja > jrue and you’re adding 2 starters as well. Geez. Nba teams would love making deals with some of you guys

On what planet is Ja Morant better than Jrue Holiday? If Ja Morant becomes Jrue Holiday at the NBA level - he will be a pretty successful draft pick. Jrue Holiday is a good player in the NBA> Ja Morant is a very good player in the Ohio Valley Conference or wherever the hell he played.
In the scenario above - I think most fans would take that type of deal because the Suns would have a boatload of cap space left. They would have 37m going out for 27m coming in obstensibly. Would be able to sign a guy like Aminu at PF
So for me, getting the 2nd pick is not about ADDING Ja Morant to the roster - its about TRADING Ja Morant and improving the roster with veterans.

We already have 4 wings and I’m not sold RJ/Culver will be the real deal at 3. Clarke’s defense would be a perfect fit at pf, and we would be able to pick up another high potential prospect.

If we trade #2 for Jrue, we should be able to get back the pels 1st

On every planet including earth. Ja Morant is probably already a better distributor than jrue and more athletic as well. Jrue is also injury prone with an ungodly contract. Ja > jrue in the future. Jrue might give the suns 1-2 good years and then have injury riddled seasons until he’s a role player coming off the bench. Unless it’s Ja for jrue straight with pelicans sending us back their pick that is a terrible idea to trade Ja, Warren and Tyler Johnson for jrue holiday. That’s the type of deal you make for a superstar not a starter.

Van Vleet would be a solid starting PG. Only under contract for a year but the suns would have his bird rights next summer so could go over the cap to keep him.

I think that's way too for ibaka. He'll be on a 1 year 23 mil contract and his improved play this season has been largley from them moving him to C full time where his quickness is an advantage.Qwigglez wrote:WeekapaugGroove wrote:If Leonard leaves Toronto but they still want to compete I wonder if they would do a Warren for Van Vleet deal. I’d much rather keep Warren than trade him for VanVleet. I feel like the Raptors are getting a huge deal in their favor here. Prefer an Ibaka for Warren and Bucks pick, though it probably doesn’t get it done. Maybe add in our 2022 heavily protected pick too. Ibaka should be the exact type of mentor we should be looking for Ayton.

Not sure about all that. Ja is 160lbs soaking wet. Jrue is probably one of the top 5 perimeter defenders in the league, not to mention his passing has been better than average. He might not possess the creativity and craftiness that Ja has displayed in college, but he’s gotten the job done distributing the ball in the NBA.
I’m not against Ja, and I have him pegged in my number two slot. Hopefully he becomes as good as Jrue has throughout his career.
Also, you’re right though that I wouldn’t trade Johnson and Warren along with our pick. But I wouldn’t be opposed if it was Johnson, our pick, and Jackson. I’d prefer if it was just Johnson and our pick though.

Guys, all of this talk of Jrue is fine and good, But the reality is that the odds of the Pels deciding to move Jrue even after trading Davis is highly unlikely.
In any package that they receive back from a Davis trade, They'll of course choose to rebuild around him along with the pieces that they get back.
I mean just consider what these other teams would have to offer?.......Now add that to their core that's still in place. Also you'd need to consider that the new draft lottery rules really diminish any interest for a team to tank or do a full rebuild.
Finally, With the hiring of David Griffin, And Griffin even himself stating that he has no intention of moving Jrue and would rather rebuild around him, basically nullifies any real possibility of him being traded anytime soon.
As for thr draft, I'd be very happy with Ja at 3 or 4, then doing either the Conley or Lowry trade and having him develop behind them until ready.
If we lose out on Ja, We still do the Conley/Lowry trade and secure our veteran guard to have next to Booker. Then once we know where either Clarke or Kabengele are projected to land, We can now trade back for either player and additional assets (veteran depth).
Finally, we can now use the remaining cap space in free agency to add shooters/defensive players.
Use our exception to get Patrick Beverley. Then roll into the season.

I think I would rather have Collison + Tyler JOhnson over Lowry or Conley. Using the logic it would cost TJ Warren in any trade to get Lowry or Conley and to get Collison need the cap space from TJ. Like somebody that posted what Lillard said about the Blazers like each other and are a team. Oubre and Tyler Johnson bring to the team an edge, some swag, toughness. Now, for the right player, I would move Tyler Johnson.
