DeMarcus Cousins Will Not Need Surgery, Unlikely To Return In Playoffs

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Apr 18, 2019 4:31 am

Steve Kerr revealed that DeMarcus Cousins will not need surgery on his torn quad but will probably miss the rest of the playoffs.

"He will not need surgery. DeMarcus, most likely, will not be back during the playoffs. You're probably looking at a couple months' recovery, so it's unlikely. But Rick [Celebrini, Warriors director of sports medicine and performance] told me that there are occasions where that injury heals faster. So we're leaving the door open, obviously," said Kerr.

Andrew Bogut and Kevon Looney will be relied upon to replace Cousins' minutes.

"I knew I was coming in as an insurance policy, to an extent. A guy that could [fit] in straight away that knows the system offensively and defensively, knows the guys. ... I definitely didn't anticipate starting in the playoffs. But unfortunately you get a freak injury to DeMarcus and those are the circumstances we're in," said Bogut.

A quad injury .... hmmmmm. Might that mean a trip to Toronto to visit the docs who treated Kawhi. Watching Kawhi play game 2 like 2014 Kawhi, Cousins will want to put the Raps high on the list of destinations as he works his way back from his achilles and now quad injury. Cousins can be a bit of a head case but with Masai record of being the Lowry whisperer, he can work his magic on Cousins.

How in the world would you not have to cut the guy open to reattach that thing? Literally looked like his muscle came undone like letting go of a stretched rubber band

There goes his big contract he was banking on. And maybe a paper ring.

Ironically the injury may have solved some headaches for Kerr as well. How do we tell Demarcus we are small ballin'?

Big Boges time to step up with the championship mentality. Nobody else Id personally rather want anchoring this time of year.

Cuzzz got hit by the flat tire...needs a summer tune up and will be back to his ways. :o

Nothing special happening in TOR as far as Kawhi is concerned. I'm not sure how injured he really was in the first place but he got away with taking more than a quarter of the season off this season and is ready to bolt when it's over. He looked really good against a bad team in game 2 but 4 REB and 4 AST isn't going to cut it in the next couple rounds. On the season Kawhi was 12th in USG% and 76th in AST... That's not a lot of ball movement.

Good news for Cousins. He will be looking to get paid and hopefully there is a team willing to take a chance on him. Can't see Sacto or Phoenix as destinations, but Charlotte would have been sweet. Too bad Biyambo just picked up his option... That leaves?
