maybe the question is...in the modern era, how many non shooters can you really get away with in your starting lineup ? the answer is probably 1. 2 and you're too easy to defend. having a non shooting point means everyone else including your center should be a threat. so it's harder to build around or add to other pieces.

If ja can even become a decent shooter he”ll be iight but thats not even the only thing to Poke at his defense looks sus too. But other than that he can ball
Parker in 2014
Wade/Lebron before that, Kidd before that.
There are multiple ways to build a team and win.
Kidd is disingenuous, their leading scorers each shot over 40% from 3

Jason Kidd shot 37% from 3 in the post season he won
Tony parker also shot 37% from 3 in the post season he won
They kept the defense honest and could hit clutch shots.
Lebron and wade had a reliable shooter at point guard to keep the defense honest in charmers as well
For such a high usage ball dominant point guard ja”s gonna HAVE to become a good shooter anyone that dominates the ball like that has to because teams will take away what you like doing especially come post season.
Right, they weren’t shooters when they came into the league and improved enough. That is part of the point. It’s possible Ja can improve enough to keep teams honest too. I agree that he has to to get to a certain level, but I also think he can. For all the knocks against his shooting, he did shoot 40% from 3 over his last 22 games in Jan/Feb/March, taking almost 5 3’s a game. He def looked better towards the end of the season (7 for 8 in the tourney).
There’s def flaws and risks, but all players in this draft have them.
For Ja, if he can improve the jumper enough I think he is a stud and think that’s worth the risk.

At least Giannis was mentioned, but the Bucks are the best example. They had the best record with only 2 or 3 shooters starting. Have a legit shot to get to the finals and maybe even win it all.

That’s not really true. Dirk 39%, Terry 36%, Shawn Marion 15%, Kidd 34%, Tyson Chandler…Caron Butler was hurt.
I agree you need even more shooters in todays game, but you could easily surround Ja with shooters.
Kidd seems like a good example cause he couldn’t shoot when he came out. Sounds like people would think about passing on him if he was in this draft. I don’t think Ja is Kidd, but I think he can be good.

Meh I'm not really sold on RJ but then again I'm not really sold on anyone besides Zion. Hoping for the best.
Also I've noticed Cam has been dropping out of the top 5 in most mocks now. He might not be on our radar after all. We'll see though
Excited to see what happens to DSJ in the offseason. Aside from conditioning, Fiz said they will work on his outside shooting. FTs definitely needs improvement as well.
That being said I don’t see a DSJ-RJ Barrett pairing working out unless we want to rack up those L’s that would give us the pingpong balls needed for Wiseman.
Dsj and Barrett would be a nightmare in the open court

Rondo's a career 60% around the rim
Ja shot 52% against OVC competition
That plus the zero defense is what concerns me more than the shooting

I’m pretty sure the Knicks shy away from a PG since we already have DSJr, and primed to go after Irving and maybe Kemba.
We’ll likely go shooting guard/power forward
I see our options being (Where they would be selected IMO)
SG:
RJ Barrett (Second)
Jarrett Culver (Third)
Cameron Reddish (Fourth)
PF:
Zion Williamson (First)
De’Andre Hunter (Fifth)
Rui Hachimura (Fifth)
Bol Bol (Fifth)

Too many people see the game through an analytical vacuum. Ja is really good y’all. He can’t shoot? I don’t think that’s entirely accurate but ok, it’s the most correctable flaw a young player can have.
And defensively, think of the guys he’s compared to. From Fox to Russ to Dame, etc none are noted defenders. And then look at what we’ve trotted our at point for the past forty years.
If we land at two, you take him. He makes Knox and Mitch better from day one. He is going to be an impact player. Can’t get cute with this.

They probably won’t but if they do like morant then they should take him regardless of Dennis. Theirs no position the knicks should feel like their comfortable at. no player on the roster has proven their our future anything. I’d say the closes one who has done so is mitchell at center

If the Knicks fall in this draft I hope it's only to 2/3 with a team like the Suns or Bulls getting the second pick because I'm all in on the RJ hype train. I'm just a sucker for a playmaking wing and I think a lot of his questionable shot selection/struggles in the half court we're due to the terrible spacing at Duke. His numbers jumped pretty substantially without Zion in the line up and the court opening up a little bit. He was decent as a catch and shoot 3 point shooter making me optimistic that his off the dribble game will improve.

I'm not the biggest fan.. but I think he can get to DeRozon level... that's my ceiling for him... and that's a good thing.

I don't care what anyone says... I'm a Bol Bol fan.. if I'm the Knicks and we are drafting at 5th... I'm taking Bol Bol... Knicks already play Kornet at PF alot... Bol Bol is 10x better now...
Dude can do everything Lauri Markkanen does now and more... offensively and defensively... 90% of college players bodies improve when they get to the Pros... Bol Bol with better conditioning!!! You all think your hype about Robinson right now. Wait until you see Bol
LoB City with those two all day.. plus they don't need to have the ball in their hands to be effective. KD and Kyrie lob throwers.... Blocks all game.. geeeeessssh

I might be more open to the idea if we didn't already have mitch but we already have mitch, they can't be on the court at the same time, it just doesn't really make a lot of sense imo

Curious how close others are to Zion in case we wind up 2nd or worse? If Zionis a 10out of 10, what grade would u go give secondAry options?
