Re: Igor fired - New Coaching Search Discussion
how can Kidd not get any credit at all laying the great foundation in Milwaukee allowing bud to come in and build a championship team out of it immediately. Kidd might not be a great tactician to do well in the playoffs but he successfully developed quite a few great young players out of late first to second round picks and a developer is what we need now.

His first year was his best year winning % wise. He had 5 years and didn't do anything with the team.

Think Monty Williams takes the Laker job. We get left looking like mugs and hire one of the “top assistants” avaible.
So we are now paying Watson, Igor and whoever we hire next.

my question is how much is the development of a rookie can be attributed to the coaching staff? would Greek freak or Brogdon or middleton have turned out just as good if they were drafted by the Suns? Or perhaps Kidd who were very involved in the Bucks' drafting process just had a great eye on choosing potentially great youngsters?

I think it's safe to say he didn't get good reviews on player exit interviews.

my bet is if money is the same he would choose the Suns job. Lakers are just as dysfunctional as us and the buss family is just as difficult to put up with, but there is no expectation here and there is no Lebron's ego to contend with. He also seems to be a laid back small town kind of guy who doesn't seem to have an appetite for attentions.

I hope so, I’m worried our recent string of firing coaches early will cost us in the end though

I don't believe NBA coaches worry about getting fired as much as people think, their contracts are guaranteed, the commitment is shown on the length of the contract given, it is the owner's loss if he fires a coach after a year when he is under a 7 years contract.

I actually just watched it. Yes, he uptalks with each sentence at the beginning, and when you end the sentence like that it makes you sound unsure and doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. A lot of people have started talking like that in recent times and it bothers a lot of people.

Have not heard or read anything related to Monty and the Lakers
I did read the Suns are not interested in interviewing Juwan Howard or Larranaga. Vanterpool and Tibbetts have been clearned to interview but I have not seen any dates set up
I think the Suns today have a one-candidate philosophy and if they get the candidate today - he will be the coach. And I don't disagree with that. If their person is Monty Williams and he is amenable, don't jerk around doing other interviews for the sake of interviews.

Didn’t we do that with Earl Watson though?

Monty Williams is not Earl Watson though. One has a track record. One didn't
It may not matter if Karim with @kareezysports is correct though

Hopefully that’s not real.
My gut says Monty is not going to LA (not to say he comes to suns). If he is really close with Pop I am sure he is being told to stay away.

Another tweet - Austin Krell works in Philly so maybe he has some inner workings here. But the Suns are still meeting with Monty today. So hopefully its not a waste of time as if he was taking the Lakers job - tell Phoenix to stay home.
One thing - if Monty does go to the Lakers - now I think you can open it up, interview a few people especially if they are first timers like Vanterpool or Tibbetts. I just hope Kidd is not called. Thats another reason I wanted Monty done quickly - no Kidd.

Re: Igor fired - New Coaching Search Discussion
If we don't get a coach with a proven winning system, or at least a solid system with experience, we are going to go through the same crap.
Our inconsistencies have been horrible. We had a solid group when we first hired Hornacek, and then we went into a spiral building a house without a foundation.
Whoever we do get, they better bring a pg with them, or have a way to get one who can be the floor general. Right now, we still have too many guys who think they can win playing 1 on 5.
As for Jones, I have always liked him as a player, and I will give him the benefit of the doubt for now. Lets see who he brings in, who he drafts, and what moves he makes before the season starts.
But I feel firing Igor was stupid. Our youth needs stability and consistency to develop.

This goes along with the report the Suns might blow out the training staff. I know Nelson has been very good but hey, it might be time to move forward and really clean out the building.

No conspiracy theory...just a trend many find annoying...though ever since I hear so many people are so annoyed by it I listen for it and find it amusing..
