If you were around in the early to mind 90s, I don't think you can possibly leave Shaq off your list. This guy came into the league with a level of excitement around him that wasn't even matched by Lebron. Breaking back boards, physically dominating opponents in ways we hadn't seen this generation.

I had Cavs seasons tickets for years, so I’m just going with guys I watched live because it gives you a better sense of everything. Lebron was amazing. Night after night you’d just think how did he even see that guy? That everything revolved around him wasn’t something I saw out of any other player. His passing always wowed me more than the rest. Paired with his athleticism, I doubt I ever will see anything like that again.

Giannis makes the court feel small because he covers ground with such expediency. It was my first impression when I first saw him. Just that this kid is all over the place in a split second. You couldn’t tell if he’d ever get there, and now he has, but you knew you were watching a freakish athlete. Someone who you’re always watching on a floor full of freakish athletes.

Kevin Garnett - his intellect on the court was just beautiful to watch. He didn’t do any one thing to wow you, but everything he did was smart basketball. He just had presence. Even as he aged, I just loved how efficient his game was and where he exerted his energy. Just a leader and great basketball player and opponent. One of those guys who leads in a way where you can see his teammates didn’t want to disappoint him because he was always playing hard. Did all the little things well.

Although not labeled a "superstar" the only player I have genuinely been amused watching is JR smith when he gets rolling. Those fade away contested 3's and crazy reverse layup/dunks

I don't go to a lot of games, but watching how much faster Westbrook is IRL was really crazy to me. Doesn't really rate against some of the other entries, but impressed me.

1. Hakeem. Nobody that big should be that fluid. Watching him in person was awesome.
2. Curry. His breakout year he was doing things I thought were impossible, and it completely changed the game.
3. Magic. Such a fun player to watch. 30 foot bounce passes that land precisely on the hands. Complete control of the fast break.

All the usual names already cited, but one I haven't seen is Steve Nash. Around 2004-2007 or so he was so dominant and so skilled. Impressive to say the very least. B2B MVPs for a reason even if you disagree with them.

I grew up watching Bird so I would like to include him or at least Magic who I have respect for. Even though I was defending Jordan before he won a championship, I think he got a bit overrated after he won his first even though I have him right now as 2nd best non center of all-time. If you are a fairly strong consensus number 1 player and I just think you are number 2 non center, I think you did end up a little overrated.

I started watching basketball over 35 years ago and from that first game and from my heyday of watching the game, the 3 players who I wouldn't have expected to ever see are.

1) Shaq. -- physical freak.
2) Lebron. -- physical freak with great passing skills.
3) Curry -- truly insane 3 point shooting... he had huge advantages that all shooters of the 80's that didn't grow up with the 3 ball didn't have when 3's weren't encouraged but still I never would have expected a player to shoot like him when tightly covered.

Jordan overall for his career will certainly have a better career than Curry but while Jordan was a half a level better than Dr. J....that wasn't as unexpected to me as what Curry has done.

For a guy with average speed/average athleticism at the PG position to legitimately dominate like he did for a stretch is pretty amazing. I actually think someone like Bird would have benefitted tremendously growing up in this era and having the privilege to watch Curry. Bird and his especially his coaches and most of his contemporaries and predecessors had no clue the true power of the 3. No clue whatsoever. The flat earth crowd was preaching to players to not take them most of the time.

By impressive, I am not talking "perfect teammates" or anything like that since I really only think Curry approaches someone like Duncan in that department. I am talking I didn't expect to see this physical or skill type freak performer.
