If we want to win a championship with JJ as a core piece, I think next year is our last shot.

We are coming up in the time when all the wasted picks by Colangelo really start to hurt. Good teams find rotational pieces with late 1st/2nd round picks. We need to start hitting.

- I would hope to bring JJ back in more a 6th man capacity (I also think he'd be willing to do this since he was this past season)--I think this is the year we offer him more than one year (he knows he is going to be declining), so we start at 10 and go down over a couple years.
- I would resign Scott & Ennis (i think they both come back on decent deals)
- I offer Boban a pretty small deal.If i remember right, after his time with the Spurs, he was willing to take a small deal to stay becasue he was happy, but Pop encouraged him to get his money, and he signed a bigger deal. I think if he's happy here, he'd stay for less.
- Z.Smith / Shake / Bolden will all hopefully be able to get some more time.
- I offer TJ the min, just cause he's a great teammate, but i think someone gives him more, maybe we see if the euro stash can make it? Or we look to draft an athletic defensive guy in the 2nd?
I don't think that Dedmon comes here for the MLE to be a back up, after a great year as a starter. I think he wants his paycheck, and somebody will give him waaay to much money. I do think Beverly is an option at the MLE, so then i throw picks or roster spots on bigs.
MLE- Beverly
1st - Mfiondu Kabengele
Simmons / Shake / TJ or Micic
Beverly / Reddick / Smith
Butler / Ennis
Harris / Scott / Bolden
Embiid / Boban / Kabengele / Lessort?
I'd sign up for that right now with zero hesitation.

If we can pull it off, I'm in.
But I also think we need to find a backup for Embiid - who Brown will play. In the three non-blowout games
against, Toronto, he played Boby 1 minute and Bolden 9, all in game 2 for Bolden. We clearly need to find
someone (hopefully a Baines type of backup) who Brown will play.
And in devising a "load management" plan, we need to consider that Leonard played only 60 games this year.
We probably should plan on Embiid not playing 10 or 15 games - strategically decided. And we need someone
who can play 10-15 minutes in a big game. Obviously, Brown doesn't trust Boby or Bolden.

I really hope TJ gets a good contract from someone this off season. Even if it is not the 76ers.

Turn Jimmy Butler into Kemba Walker and retain Tobias Harris. Explore moving Ben Simmons.

TJ should be happy he is in the NBA. He is a short, not athletic pg that cant shoot.
I would say keep him for moral purposes and try in a couple of years to transition him to a non player position within the organisation, as he has imo more future in these positions if he wants to stay in the NBA.

Re: Summer 2019 Free Agency Thread
Resign Butler and have him do some recruiting for some vet minimum ex teammates like D.Rose, J.Noah and possibly L.Deng, of course, none of those are starters but for the vet minimum, Rose and Noah could be rotational players in the playoffs. For those who hadn't followed Noah this year, he was given a chance and did well in Memphis, he'd be a solid backup defensive center who's looking to make assists more than baskets which could work well with the 76ers AND it would give Embiid a good guy to work against in practice.
If Butler and Harris are retained, it's VITAL that this organization finds vet minimum players who can contribute and be worth way more then their contracts for this team, then you can use any exceptions to fill out the rest of your rotation.
BTW... I think a backup defensive center is the #1 need for this team. Philly can get by with less at PG with Simmons and Butler able to play that position, Philly can not get away with Embiid and nobody at center.

Anyone knows where can I find the full presser from Harris/Brand and Brown?

Has anyone heard anything about Anzejs Pasecniks lately? I wonder if he's even in consideration for next season (or ever).

Well, Pickinic Baskettes does have a cap hold as a 1st round pick, and at any point he could tell the Sixers he's coming over so sign me or release me. I don't think he's making a ton in Europe so it wouldn't surprise me if he came over.
The guy they have stashed over there I'm more interested in seeing is Vasilije Micic.

I mostly agree but I would to dish out a couple of observations:
1. I read that Beverly is interested in Dallas and it makes sense for him. He could be paid more than the MLE to support/develop Doncic.
But the idea to find a more defensive vet guard as starter and to use JJ as "sixth man" is the right on point.
2. I loved the effort put out by Ennis in the postseason. But if you're commited to develop Z. Smith, you have to use him as Butler's primary backup....so no need for Ennis. You could try to add a veteran on the buyout marker later, if you realize Smith won't be ready to play in the postseason
3. I love Boban, but he is unuseful 69% (Joel trademark) of the time . Our big fella Joel is not an Iron man so you need a better and more playable backup at five.
4. What to do with Bolden? he cannot be another year on the develop path. So either he will be the Harris' primary backup at the 4 (that means no Scott), or no need for him on the team.
I would definitly take a chance on Mfiondu Kabengele at the draft. I'm also intrigued with Talen Horton-Tucker or Thybulle.

I'm going with that outline for now. Didn't fill in the last two roster spots, those could be 33 & 34 or vet min guys or one of both. Also, I admittedly have not followed this draft class very closely; so I just took the guy projected to the Sixers in the Tankathon mock draft for now. So feel free to change that player to who you prefer.

Not necessarily. I think we just add another ball-handler to the lineup who can also lead our second unit.
I think from a competition standpoint, we're a notch better. Surprisingly, our problem this year was defense (14th in DRTG), and if you watch the games it was primarily due to perimeter D.
We also strengthen our bench by moving Redick there. 8-9 deep depending on the matchup.
