I’ll say this, we got lucky. :D

We have the best future defensive PG already.

Ball stays.

We have Ingram whose performance end of season was flat out ridiculous on offense and his defense is perhaps all NBA 2nd team at the three.

Ingram stays.

FA will net us Leonard or Klay at the two. And as much as I hate it, it’s mist likely true that...

LBJ stays. Which leaves us with a pretty complete starting foursome assuming LBJ plays defense:

PG: Ball SG: Leonard SF: Ingram PF: James

As much as I love how well Kuz plays off of LBJ and how he’s got the eye of the tiger and all of the ways that he can score etc, he is still more valuable to us in a trade as long as LBJ hogs his starting spot. I don’t think we’re trading LBJ unfortunately.

So, to get Zion (the next generational physical freak difference maker a la LBJ) who would be the perfect fit with Lonzo:

Trade Kuzma and the 4th pick for the 1st pick.

Ball
Leonard
Ingram
James
Zion
PG: D Lo / Reaves / Vincent(IL) / JHS
SG: Christie / Dinwiddie / Lewis / Mays
SF: LBJ / Prince / Reddish / Windler
PF: Rui / Vando(IL) / LBJ
CTR: AD / Hayes / Wood

Yeah.

How we gonna have all this time to both recruit Kawhi while also drugging up NO whole FO to make that steal?

All it takes is Zion telling them he doesn’t want to be there. Half full, not empty. We’re in a good spot.

They have 7 years of control. Its not a AD situation.

Unless what he says makes it so that they don’t want that control. Wasn’t LBJ publicly offering Zion career advise if he ever wanted it?

You know that Dumb and Dumber line, “so you’re telling me there is a chance?!” ...? That’s me.

Colonial days, Africa, two show salesmen are sent from Europe. One says “they don’t use shoes here, I’m coming back home with the next ship”. The other says, “send more sales people, good shoes are a brand new market here!!!”.

If AD trade doesn't happen I'd seriously consider a pick swap with Minny.

Pick 4 (Culver) for pick 11 (Clarke) and Covington

No?

Zion to NOP: “FYI, I don’t want to play for the NOP. That will never change. I want to be traded if you draft me and will keep on insisting on it until you do. I hope you get the best package that you can possibly get for me but I do not want to live in and play for NO. I hope you can honor my wish, which is why I wanted to let you know as early as possible”.

There.

I mean you can dream it and all, but no that leverage does not exist. NOP just goes ok, we'll play you for 5 years then get back to this demand.

Yeah, or not. They can save face trading him on draft day for Kuzma, 4th, filler, future picks up the kaboom. They will make the playoffs if they keep AD and Holiday and Randle and add Kuz and a 4th...

But hey, why not LBJ straight up for Zion?

Ball, Leonard, Ingram, Kuzma, Zion.

Yeah.

Given the window we have to work with I'd say the odds we keep this pick are remote. Good to have #4 to trade to improve the team. We will need it to sweeten the pot with trading our youth if we choose to. Ingram with the blood clot and running out of time/value as he get closer to FA and Ball's up and down run so far. Kuzma has good value as he's been durable and showed improvement overall year one to year two and he's cheap and under control. Hopefully we can fill in the gaps on this team and make a run.

Not even rich Paul as the Pelicans GM would trade the first pick for Kuzma and the 4th.

Gut says playing with Zion isn't going to be a huge draw for AD, but I could be wrong...
It would seem we are in a good position there... Also makes us more attractive to Kawhi...

And again... Kyrie is on the outside looking in...
