If you're the Pelicans, who can offer better package for AD?

Post#1 » by robbie84 » Wed May 15, 2019 2:33 am

Pels have landed #1. Congratulations to the NO fans!
So, this post is going to assume they are trading Davis for one of these packages...if you can think of a better package from another team, please add below in the replies.

Knicks can offer:
#3 pick
Dennis Smith
Kevin Knox
Mudiay
Henry Ellenson
Robinson
Mavs 2021 pick

Lakers can offer:
#4 pick
Brandon Ingram
Josh Hart
Kuzma
Lonzo

Celtics can offer:
#14 pick
#20 pick
#22 pick
2020 Memphis pick
Tatum
Brown
Smart
Semi Ojeleye

A package of something from those assets is what it will likely take. So what package does NO take and why?
Keep in mind they are probably building around these assets and Zion who plays PF/SF or a combo forward type i guess.

Hard to turn down the Knicks offer of Smith, Knox and the #3 pick to go with Zion simply because you can gamble on Knox and Smith and you also have the #3 pick to get Ja Morant or whoever is left to pick from.

That being said, the Lakers have Ingram and the #4 pick. Cetlics have Tatum, Brown and some first rounders.

I can't see a clear winner? This is going to be exciting, and I'd say NO is going to land a motherload of a package for AD lol.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

I think the Lakers package is more attractive.

The Boston offer is still best of the ones you listed. If I were the Pelicans I would call New York asking for Smith, Robinson, and #3 but Brown, Tatum, and 3 firsts is a kings ransom

Boston can also offer the 2020 Memphis pick. More likely to want that then any pick in this years draft

Lakers can flip Ball for another asset to throw in a trade.

Knicks are not even in the race

Sorry but the Knicks assets (except for #3) all look like busts, no offense.

Swap Josh Hart for Lonzo Ball and done deal :) Ball could eventually replace Jrue.

Can and will are very different things. The most likely to overpay seem to go int this order - Knicks, Lakers, Celtics.

The Lakers pick is most likely to be the best offer, because AD has indicated he won't re-sign in Boston.
Ainge won't put ALL of that on the table if he doesn't have a commitment of Davis staying there.

What if it doesn't convey in 2020? Do we just not get it at all or do we own it like it's our pick now?

I agree. Ainge will Ainge. The Lakers offered a decent package before I thought so are willing to shell out. The Knicks are just desperate for a big change lol.

I don't see Boston trading for him period. Even if Kyrie were to stay, they arent going to give up Tatum, Brown and Smart for him let alone 3 first rounders to boot lol. I wouldn't even trade Tatum straight up for him honestly.

Knicks can throw in Mitchell Robinson, Knicks 2020 first, Mavs 2021 first. If they want AD they have the best chance to get him.

Holiday
Barrett
Knox
Zion
Robinson
+ whatever

Lakers have no shot. I doubt the Pels want the honor of paying Ingram the max.

I still feel the Pelicans lean toward potentially reuniting Barrett with Zion. Other than the #4 pick the lakers offer a bunch of treadmilling.

Boston has the most to offer. But do they even bother to do it.

I thought the Knicks have Robinson and Mavs 2021 and 2023 pick?

Also I believe Robinson was born and raised in New Orleans.
