Wrong. Lakers got the 4th pick because the NBA needs to take care of their Money Maker. Lebron cried a great deal last season.

Minny had 1 win lessand drafts 11#
Kings with 1 win more fall to 14

So yea, go ahead and enjoy your 22 wins team to draft 7th ( happend to Bulls ).
This system means you could spend decade in lottery and never come close to top 3 picks.

Yes, this lottery showed that the anti-tanking adjustments worked.

It shows that with the new flattened lottery odds being anywhere in the worst 9 records is very valuable with a better then 1-20 shot at #1. Much better having that % chance of changing your franchise than getting abused by Toronto or Bucks or Celtics in the 1st round.

I don't think these draft odds are going to last long. You might honestly see 8 seeds try to dodge the sweep in the playoffs for the shot at a top pick.

Agreed. It doesn't eliminate tanking. It just alters it. We've already seen this before from teams that were trying to retain picks that had protections. The Warriors tanked to keep the pick they used on Barnes. The distribution of incentives for tanking have been shifted; not removed.

Right.. all it means is that you have a better chance at landing talent being bottom 8 instead of barely missing the playoffs or losing in the first round. If anything it’s the same it has always been, the worst being in the middle.

Vuc should be playing the Lopez role for us. You just don't win through the post anymore.

To be fair to Vuc, Giannis + others carry a lot of gravity out there for him to be able to do that.

But yeah, before this year, Vuc NEEDED to either stretch the floor or get to the line more, and that's why we saw such average stats from him being a strictly mid-range shooter.

I can't help but watch this game and hope that Jeff and John can get the Magic to the level of the Bucks and Raptors. You can see that they are building the Magic in that same model. It definitely seems like that's the way to go in building a team in today's NBA. I have been critical of Jeff and John at times, but seeing these two other franchises in the Eastern Finals and knowing that they helped build these teams, I can't help but feel like the Magic made a really smart move going after those two. Obviously, the improvements the franchise made this year is very encouraging as well. Not sure if that was Alex Martin's doing or not, but it seems like they finally made a really smart move going after talent from the top two teams in the East.

Dang Lopez went for 29 on Gasol. I guess it helps when you got those teammates getting all that attention. Vuc needs more help lol.

Yes but it also helps when you don't try to score in the post against Gasol like Vuc and Embiid tried. Again, you don't win in the post anymore.

that's true but that's on cliff....that's the gameplan, that's how he chose to play don't see how that's an indictment on vuc when that's how we're designed to play.

It's not an indictment on Vuc but how much money do you want to commit to a guy that plays a style of basketball that doesn't win in the playoffs? That's the question moving forward. He can stretch the floor, and is a good passer but there aren't a ton of intangibles that make me say Vuc is WORTH (in money/contract) a ton more than someone like Brook Lopez (who makes less than $4 mil per). Anything over $20 mil per for Vuc is just straight up stupid with the holes this team has. If we had Giannis and another all-star like Middleton, I wouldn't care about what bringing Vuc back would cost but we need to be fiscally responsible to give ourselves the opportunity to sign or trade for a star at some point.

we don't know the market yet so it's a bit premature to be saying who's worth what especially considering the year Vuc had and the work he put in. Don't understand the comparison to lopez who is heavily getting the benefit of being on a good team who has players that have gravity, don't forget how trash he was just a year ago on the lakers where there was none of that and he had to play straight up with people actually guarding him. Vuc did what he did as the best player on this team knowing that he was the guy the other teams gameplan against and for the most part still couldn't stop him. He'll get what he's worth and i'll leave those decisions to the professionals i'm pretty sure they know whether bringing vuc back is fiscally responsible or not.

Indicators point that Vucevic will improve on his 3pt shot too. He's always been a very good perimeter shooter and a solid FT shooter. Its a natural development of his game.

He started taking 3's in 16-17. He took 75 and shot it at 30%. The next season he took 204 (3.6 per game) and shot them at 31.4%. This year he took 231 (2.9 per game) and shot them at 36.4%.

Clifford said that he told him his goal should be to be able to take 6+ per game next year. Vucevic said that working on his 3PTer was the main offensive thing he was going to work on this summer. So its not hard to imagine that he'll take another jump in volume and efficiency from 3pt range.

Back in 2012-13 Lopez was best post up big and allstar.

Thing with shooting is simple, it helps Bucks because they can take adventage of open driving lines ( Bledsoe and Giannis driving).
Him shooting 3s on Nets and Lakers ment nothing because nobody could take adventage of space.

I feel like i repeated this 50 times in last 3 days.
Basketball is situational sport for non superstars. Performance of most players are impacted by style of play, players around them and skillset they and others have. You can have the best spot up shooter in the world and if you don't have somebody to pull gravity of defense and focus away from him he will do nothing ( JJ Redick on Bucks with Monta and Jennings as best example ).

You can have best post up player in the world , if your roster is filled with non shooters he will never shine ( Embiid - Simmons problem).
You can have best driver in a game, if floor is not spaced enough and he can't shoot, defense will sag off and wait him in paint ( Simmons. Lebron only had sucess when he played along side shooters).

Raptors players not named Leonard and Lowry shot 1-23 in second half of a game? What a F*** ?

At some stage, team has to be in the middle on the way up or down. Teams just can't be top 4 or bottom 4 every year. They have to evolve.
