Who is the 3rd best player in the Bucks-Raptors series?

Post#1 » by BoBBo! » Wed May 15, 2019 3:41 pm

There's no debate that Giannis & Kawhi are the top 2 players in the series (and arguably in the league). After that? It seems wide open who the 3rd best player is... Who do you feel is the best of the rest?

I would say it's between Middleton, Siakam or Lowry.

In these playoffs? Middleton.

The debate is really between Siakam and Middleton, but ask me who scares me the most after Giannis on that Bucks team and the answer is Brogdon. He is essentially the perfect role player, very smart, makes very few mistakes and seemingly has ice water in his veins.

Middleton has been lights out from 3. Siakam might outplay him for a couple of games, but it's more likely that Middleton will be the 3rd best player in most games.

It's entirely possible though that Middleton is shut down by the Raptors defense and Lowry and/or Siakam gets hot. In fact that unlikely scenario is really the pathway to victory for the Raptors. I don't expect it, but I don't dismiss it either.

think its easily Middleton over Siakam, did you see Siakam in game 7? He looked scared to play basketball and way in over his head. On the even bigger stage I don't trust Siakam. Middleton also does a pretty good job guarding Kawhi based on 1 game earlier this regular season.

Kawhi can shut Middleton down but probably will not focus in on that matchup unless it goes to a game 7. Can Danny Green shut down Middleton? Questionable, I feel like green's defense was shaky in the 2nd round, he let Jimmy Butler do whatever he wanted against him.

Its actually phenomenal how similarly the two teams are built.

Lowry, Bledsoe, Siakam, Khris all have claims on the #3 spot. Maybe Gasol too.

I thought Siakam and Middleton were 3a & 3b.... But after looking at the numbers.. Siakam is definitely the 3rd best player in the series. Middleton will get the benefit of the doubt because of his all-star status.

Siakam had a better regular season.

Both averaged about 31mpg.
Siakam 17p/7r/3a + 0.9st/0.7blk - 1.9TO
Middleton 18p/6r/4a + 1st/0blk - 2.3TO

Siakam had a higher PER, VORP, TS%, WS, BPM.

In the playoffs,

Siakam is averaging 21/7/2.5 + 1.3stl/0.6blk - 1.3TO [36mpg] --> Note: Has been playing with a calf contusion for the past 4 games.
Middleton is averaging 19/6/5 + 0.8stl/0blk - 2.0TO [33mpg]

their advanced stats are pretty similar but Siakam has a slight edge in most of the categories.

He wasn't scared, he just had Embiid guarding him who has the size and surprisingly the quickness to guard him well.

Some of you guys are confusing BEST PLAYER with MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER in the series.

It’s Middleton. He’s still a better player than Siakam. Both are great defenders, though I’d give Siakam a slight edge there. On O though, while Siakam is better at running the break, Middleton is better in the half-court and is a much better shooter. I have to go with Khris here.

I think Siakam will have more of an impact this series than Middleton, because Kawhi will be defending Middleton. Good luck with that.

Embiid was giving him space like he's a Ben Simmons type shooter and he refused to take jumpshots. Game 7 he wasn't even looking to score he just gave the ball to Kawhi and set him screens.
