On average and by the numbers, its Harden

Against high level defense and by the eye, its Durant

I'd take Kawhi over Harden, too

Give me Durant.

nobody would argue this except rockets fans

That is more clutch and situational matchup. Durant is freaking 7ft tall. I'm a Rockets fan and Id probaby agree(another Rockets fan did so as well). But the thread was "best iso player". A pretty simple question imo. The proof is easy to obtain and has been given all season. That's not Rockets bias. Numbers don't lie.

Durant was really, really good, but not an unbelievable iso player in OKC. Top 3 defense in the league structured their entire defense just to stop Harden. Give Harden the greatest shooters of all time, with his own iso prowless, and his playmaking ability(easily better than KD's). What would any defense actually be able to do? Deadass.

Kevin Durant followed by Kawhi

Harden is inefficient scorer

Actually surprised no one has mentioned Butler. I am not a big Butler fan but he is very good in iso and the numbers back it up.

I think the best ISO player comes down to whoever makes the most recent clutch shot while going furthest in the post season.

I mean let's forget about Harden for a second. Kawhi was basically red shirt last year, had to be on load management this year while sitting out 20 games and no b2b to keep him fresh for the playoffs, had a great post season, hit a big time shot, now he is that much better of an ISO player than LeBron who unfortunately went out of people's horizon for a month because the Lakers *as a team* weren't good enough to make the post season.

He was more efficient in the playoffs than both...

Points per iso play...

1.05 Harden
1.02 Leonard
0.99 KD

Harden is missing an entire level of iso scoring compared to KD, and I despise Cupcakes game lol.

Through his career KD has shot a higher percentage of his shots from 10-16 feet than Kobe and Melo (Jordan numbers not available) at a super high .457 clip. Even higher than Ray Allen and Steph. Move him out to 16 feet-arc and he shoots .213 of his shots there at .440, still higher than Melo, Kobe, and Ray (but not Steph, .185 of his shots on .465).

Mildly arguable KD is the best post-Jordan mid range volume shooter. As far as percentages well I haven’t mined too heavy but CJ McCollum even blows KDs shooting percentages out the water with an unbelievable .516 from 10-16 feet and .495 from 16’ to the arc.

You can’t begin to compare Harden to any of those mid range splits. Dude shoots only .064 of his shots from 10-16 feet at a very respectable .423. It’s the long jumpers that Morey has legislated out of his game (.090 of his shots at a paltry .378). The inabilty of today’s players to pump fake and step inside the line for an easier, rhythm shot grays my hair. Even besides the mid range game, y’all think a career .365 super volume three point shooter is good? I shutter to think what he’d look like outside of clueless officiating that causes him to live at the line. He finishes great at/ around the rim but never attacks the it from the baseline. So many holes.

I'd say Harden.... at least for the regular season. KD has an argument also.

Kawhi is a great ISO scorer, but his playmaking is mediocre

Edit - although so far in the playoffs Kawhi's scoring has been so ridiculous (last night not withstanding) that his playmaking hasn't mattered

Damn totally forgot about my man lol. I invite all to feel free to make me look stupid when need be.
.247 of his shots from 10-16, whopping .315 from 16-3pt. .472 and .474, respectively. Wow. I’ll forever look at KD like a mix of parts from Dirk and T-Mac without Dirks rebounding or T-Macs rim finishing. All mediocre to good defenders give or take.

Take a look at Chris Paul's split last season

My God. Again, why Morey is so hell-bent on taking that shot away I have no idea. .551 on a shot you only take 6% of the time!?!?! Insane.

I made this point to my cousin who was complaining about kawhi isos. I mean kawhi would have it a lot easier if in Durant's shoes and having those outside threats, and even draymond green to throw the ball to. OK, not so much Draymond Green.

Yup. That's why I don't think Durant should be considered the best player in the NBA. There are several players in the league who could do what Durant does if they were on golden state. He has to do it on his own team before being considered the best.
