Teams Growing More Reluctant To Sign Kyrie Irving, According To Reports

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun May 19, 2019 12:14 am

NBA teams are growing "more wary" of signing Kyrie Irving due to how his season played out with the Boston Celtics on and off the court, according to sources.

Steve Bulpett reported that two teams will only sign Irving if he can land another marquee free agent to pair alongside him.

The Celtics remain optimistic that they can resign Irving.

“We’ll have more conversations with him and his representatives in the coming weeks. We had a quick exit interview with everyone on the team, and the day after you lose a tough playoff series is not the time to have those conversations...I know he went on vacation, and as he comes back and we talk with him, we’ll see where things go," said assistant general manager Mike Zarren.

Good job by Danny to plant seeds of doubt in other teams minds. Glad to see you’re feeling better DA!

The Raptors could sure use him next to Kawhi right about now.

Honestly this is likely part of Ainge planting doubt in other teams minds. I still think Kyrie leaves though

I'm pretty sure Kyrie did a great job of planting all those seeds of doubt himself, he doesn't need any help from Ainge.

First he stated during the pre-season that he was going to re-sign with the Celtics, then mid-season, for no apparent reason, he completely changed his tune and decided to announce his new non-committal intentions to the world.

Then he criticized his young teammates for not knowing how to win and saying he needed to show them how to win in the playoffs. This was one season after they went to game 7 of the ECF without him which only made it clear that he lacked self awareness, but then when the playoffs arrived me laid a giant egg. Oops.

So you're not a top 10-12 player, you're injury prone, you create unnecessary distractions for your team but you want the max? I'd be weary too.

I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

Great.

That means Knicks are more likely to sign him, and suck more significantly, and for longer

Hey everyone! This article is 100% a Celtic plant. It's false. Come on. We've seen this before.

Whenever Ainge wants something out there, he calls Bulpett. Ainge is trying desperately not to watch his team fall back into irrelevancy. Scaring teams off Kyrie part one. Part two will be something about the Celtics are the favorite to trade for AD, quoting "league sources" or "anonymous executives".

If it comes down to it, Cuban would sign him for sure, without hesitation. That wouldn't be a bad plan C,D,E for Kyrie either.

i wouldn't want kyrie to lead my team. he just sets bad examples, and i think that's the core of his problem. unless he's willing to share the spotlight with luka, which i doubt

which means the knicks will be tied to irving and a bloated contract for someone that won't play. so it'll be wasted money that could've been spent elsewhere. durant alone won't bring the knicks anywhere near a championship, and irving has shown that he cannot be relied upon to help.

bad decision, either way.

It's because Kyrie holds and dribbles the ball too much. Just like Melo did, like Westbrook does. Like everybody else who's now at home watching basketball on TV.

Only the top talents constantly share the ball, but they are few - but still playing: Dame, Steph, KD, Kawhi, Giannis.

The rest is on vacation. Only a few more come to mind - all top-level franchise players: Luka, Joker, AD. I don't see many more. Facts.

Seems weird it's coming from a Boston source, and not someone other city.s newspaper. Makes ya think Ainge made a phone call to run this story, so it would be potentially easier for them to keep Irving.
