http://amicohoops.net/cavaliers-have-draft-eyes-for-texas-tech-standout-culver/
If the Cavaliers had landed the No. 2 overall draft pick, they may have settled on Texas Tech shooting guard Jarrett Culver — even over the likes of Ja Morant and R.J. Barrett.

That is how much the Cavs are said to like Culver. It’s hard to know if any of this is true or just a gigantic smokescreen (Culver is about the third draft prospect the Cavs are said to really, really want.)

But for the sake of argument, let’s say Culver is indeed the Cavaliers’ man. Let’s say the New Orleans Pelicans take Zion Williamson at No. 1, the Memphis Grizzlies go with Moran at No. 2, and the Knicks take Barrett after that.

In that scenario, all that stands between the Cavs and Culver is … drumroll, please … LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers.

“At No. 5, though, there’s a pretty good chance the Cavs can get their man, if the Lakers pass on him at No. 4 — though that is no guarantee,” Sean Deveney of Sporting News wrote. “Culver had good numbers at the Chicago pre-draft combine, measuring 6-6.75 with a 6-9.5 wingspan.”

The Cavs interviewed Culver last week, and according to sources, walked away feeling as if he would be a great fit in the culture they are trying to build and in new coach John Beilein’s system.

But again, what happens after the top three picks is when the draft mysteries are really expected to begin. Along with Culver, Virginia small forward De’Andre Hunter, Duke wing Cam Reddish, Vanderbilt point guard Darius Garland and rising North Carolina combo guard Coby White are all expected to fall in the Nos. 5-10 range.

I’d say my big three right now in no order is NAW,Okpala, and Bitadze. Sekou was my number one but I’ve come to terms with the fact that he won’t be there at 12 (think the Wizards will nab him at 9). Think it is crazy how many people are sleeping on Okpala. I think his measurements and game is perfect for today’s game. Could be a Paul George like steal.

I know absolutely nothing about Okpala

Bruno Fernando was in for a workout yesterday.

Hornets draft history suggests that we don't know. The pick we all thought was the consensus pick on draft day rarely turns out to be the guy.

I really have no clue who Kupchak is going to draft. A few years ago I would have said we were going to draft the safe, high-character guy with not a ton of upside. Which in this draft feels like maybe Grant Williams or PJ Washington.

I'm guessing if they feel that Kemba will stay, they might play it safe and go for someone NBA ready that fits. If they feel Kemba goes, they might swing for more upside. I don't know... it also seems like mocks are all over the place and there's like 20 dudes in our range

I like Bam.

He was drafted around #12 as well - wasn’t he?

I think I like Bruno more. Better hair than Bam - although Bam is a cooler name than Bruno (in fairness to Bruno though Bam is not his actual first name).

I also think Bruno has better footwork and softer hands.

Incredible hair.

But the only way we'd draft him is if it was part of an agreement to sent him to Los Angeles

Cam Reddish will fall, we will get excited, and he will suck ass.

I like Coby White almost as much as Morant. Think he will be a much better player than Garland, and I would be ecstatic if somehow Phoenix, Chicago, and Minnesota had a mental lapse and failed to draft him; and having him land to us.

I just noticed that after Morant, White and Garland, there is no PG depth in this draft. Man I think the front office is really gonna regret not drafting SGA last year if Kemba actually ends up leaving.

I have him way higher on my big board than I probably should. Like, I know he is probably going to be a huge disappointment, but there is so much talent there that when I compare him directly to other prospects its hard to not have him ranked really high. I don't think theres any way he makes it to 12 though.

I think Minnesota at 11 is probably his floor.

My guess is its Brandon Clarke unless someone takes him before us or Coby White also drops.

I think all of these guys are just as good options as they are for PG.

These guys all look good shooting set shots with no one guarding them, from the spots they practice from every day for hundreds of reps. No knock on them and I like Jaxson as a prospect. I remember Cody seeming to be all world as a shooter, to go with his surprising measurables for a big.

Regularly being near the bottom of the lottery makes this so much harder. Easier to make bad choices, or reach for players falling down the board.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I saw a video recently by Ballislife.com with some of their all americans. They were collectively asked who the toughest player they've ever had to guard was an unanimously they all said Reddish without hesitating. Right now Reddish seems like an empty gym star, but I still think he has a ridiculous ceiling I just doubt he ever even comes close to reaching it. I'm not sure how good Coach K is at developing these guys. I definitely think a team in the top 8 gambles on him considering how weak this draft is, and that would probably be a really smart thing to do. I'd be tempted to take him #4

Can we ban vids of prospects knocking down wide open shots during a work out? MKG and Hassan Whiteside have looked like Steph Curry in those open gym videos. They are pretty much meaningless

Yeah, those are pretty meaningless. Especially when the guy misses a few shots in a row and people are still impressed by it. Heck even I can look like Steph in one of those...probably ;)
