I really hope some huge name guy from WWE jumps ship, like Orton. Orton on a TV-14 wrestling show is $.

Him and Cody are good friends, right?

It’s bound to happen sooner than later. At this point it’s pretty obvious that the revival and the good brothers are headed there, but Orton is definitely someone I could see there. He’s someone in wrestling who treats it like a business. He’s getting older and if he can make similar money on far less dates I could see it.

In all honesty, I Hope most of the big names stay away. I really like the home grown feel of the promotion. Though I would like to see some bona fide main eventers get their just due (Zayn, Rusev come to mind and of course Punk).

Stanford wrote:I thought the podcast was boring. Jon essentially interviewed himself, which resulted in a lot of rambling. It was interesting to hear him be so critical of Vince. Usually guys at least say "well, he's a genius, but..." Jon clearly doesn't think so.

Other than that, there wasn't a lot of new information. We dont need anyone to tell us that their creative process is trash. We watch the show. It's evident. Compare this interview to Punk's appearance on AoW. That episode had a bunch of newsworthy stuff that made people look at WWE differently.

I also thought it was funny that he thought he did a great job with whatever he was given. I do not agree. He got screwed in terms of promos and storylines, but he didnt embrace what he was given like Daniel Bryan has. He always had a look of "I dont want to be doing this" on his face. I think that's fine because he truly got screwed, but his impression of his performance is just wrong.

This period is going to set the long term perception of his career. Hopefully he can repay all the faith we put in him initially.

I'm definitely much closer to his thought process about his performance with the material. I can't think of too many times, if any, I came away from one of those terrible Ambrose segments thinking 'if they had given this to X, he would've done much better'.

In some ways the Punk podcast was a more macro podcast because it was so much more expansive but so much of what he talked about was specific to him. That's why in other ways, the Ambrose podcast was more macro because its not like he was treated any different than everyone else. In fact, he was probably given the opportunity to make adjustments that I doubt is afforded to everyone. Mandy Rose probably gets handed dialogue and she's in a place on the card where her only real choice is to just read it word-for-word. Paul Heyman is probably the only semi-regular non-McMahon family member who has a fairly high level of freedom in terms of what they can say.

I've got to stay away from AEW boards (not counting this thread), I'm starting to hate that promotion based only on their fans.

Finally got around to watching Double or Nothing, I know people are praising the production but to me it looked way too much like WWE and needed to be more like boxing/MMA, so sick of the big set, pyro, backstage segments, etc. And then the in-ring product, the first match in the history of the promotion (battle royal) was so awful, so many green, tiny gimmick wrestlers, what were they thinking. And JR seemed very out of place calling high spot matches lol. The whole thing gave me a 2015 TNA vibe, really hope the TNT show offers something better, but even the idea of weekly episodic wrestling is played out. Marquee matches delivered but was looking for more.

I think in the lower end of the card you will get some comedy stuff but as you go into the actual midcard, upper mid card and main event you will get serious wrestling.

They definately need to up their production though, it was like some of the worst bits of WWE's camera work. Hopefully TNT and the Khan's can help with that.

Just watched Moxley's match with Juice Robinson, this combined with the incredible video package he did over a month ago and the brief promo work he's done since, just reminded me of how good Jon Moxley was/is. When he was on the Indies some dismissed him as just a death match wrestler, a reputation that IMO was silly since that's what got him the most attention but there was plenty of footage of him having good traditional matches. But what even his in-ring detractors would've had to acknowledge was the absolutely off the charts character and promo work he would do. He was this cross between Cactus Jack and Brian Pillman with a few sprinkles of Stone Cold in there. And the very early Dean Ambrose character was just Jon Moxley with a different name, if you go back and watch that rinky-dink FCW show that preceded NXT you saw him take that character and kill it with programs with William Regal and Rollins. And that very brief feud with Foley that had to be scraped, that was such an interesting angle that he was taking with Foley and I'm not going to say I'm sad it never happened because Foley should have stopped wrestling in 2000, but if there was any way to do that program and have someone wrestle on Foley's behalf, the character and mic work they could've done would've been great.

I don't think everything he did on the main roster was terrible, but it was a fundamentally different character. I think the closest we got to Jon Moxley was probably his feud with Rollins immediately after The Shield broke-up

I finally watched it. I'd call it a success overall, though it started out terribly with the battle royale. Wow, that was so bad. And Tommy Dreamer really should be ashamed of himself - not sure why he brought the "wrestlers" he brought with him. Billy Gunn also didn't really help. They're trying to push Hangman Page, but there's really nothing compelling about him at this point in his career. The Rhodes brothers match was very compelling - as was Cody's speech after it. Like it or not, blood can help tell a story, and it did. Young Bucks vs Lucha Brothers - I thought was great - and certainly something you're not going to get from WWE. I think it's obvious - If you're not a Bucks fan, AEW isn't for you. That tag match with The Best Friends... was bad and made no sense, and Jack Evans unfortunately looked pretty much washed up on the losing team in a ridiculous outfit.

The 6 man tag match was very well done. Daniels never has a bad match, and Scorpio Sky looked good. I could have done without the Smash Brothers - it was weird, and the turn out the lights parts looked stupid. The women's 4 way match was interesting and had 4 good performers - even if it was poorly booked - and it was. Honestly, I was expecting a bit more from Jericho vs Omega, but Moxley made it work at the end. Jericho kinda looked like a better dressed Mickey Roark in The Wrestler - not iin a good way - but he gave the show needed star power.

All-Out was sold out in 15 minutes. Gotta be a scalpers dream. Luckily, my buddy somehow managed a few days ago to get ahold of a suite thru the arena. Everybody gotta pitch in $125, which is probably cheaper than getting a ticket on aftermarket

They could have done a stadium show if they wanted to (and they may end up doing further in). Their is demand at least, that's for sure. I think now its just a waiting game to see how everything else goes (TV, more WWE departures perhaps with the best of that bunch being signed as well as potential movement on the ROH-NJPW partnership which could bring guys like Naito and Okada stateside for appearances).
