Should the owner have been removed? Probably. Anytime a player thinks a fan went at him that fan should be removed and the incident investigated. Permanently banning him for putting his hand on Lowry to try and push him off another fan who Lowry was crushing shouldn't be something we ban him for. At the very least I'd like to hear his side of the argument as well as testimony from surrounding fans.
Wtf, you don't touch a player ever. The fact that this guy is a minority owner makes this even worse.

Just to play devil's advocate, say it was a small child that Lowry had landed on and due to being tangled up in the chairs/fans he couldn't immediately get up. I don't know about you but if I'm sitting next to that and there's a screaming child being crushed I'd hurcules heave Lowry off of him/her. In this case, it was a man he landed on who didn't get hurt and wound up helping Lowry back up, and so the owner shouldn't have done anything. He was in the wrong but people are suggesting permanent bans and being pressured to sell his shares. That feels like a huge overreaction to me.

I knew he was somebody, acting like a hotshot. I'm surprised he didn't protest. I like how his wife or whoever the woman sitting next to him was just stayed.

I hope a Raptor official is contacting the league about this - dude needs to be disciplined.

Make the SOB release a statement himself not some PR dude.

Warriors:
Mr. Stevens’ behavior last night did not reflect the high standards that we hope to exemplify as an organization. We’re extremely disappointed in his actions and, along with Mr. Stevens, offer our sincere apology to Kyle Lowry and the Toronto Raptors organization for this unfortunate misconduct. There is no place for such interaction between fans—or anyone—and players at an NBA game.
Mr. Stevens will not be in attendance at any of the remaining games of the 2019 NBA Finals.

According to TSN, the Warriors have released a statement saying he will not be permitted to attend the remainder of the finals and that an investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Haven't you heard, you relinquish all rights if you get injured at an NBA event, so it would be the Kid's fault

Nice. I wonder if the NBA had a discussion with the Warriors about this also. In any case, good on the Warriors. Money can't teach you class and this numbskull was acting all high & mighty (same reason I think Drake is embarrassing, always peacocking the opposing team, if it wasn't Drake and some dude on the opposing team you know the Raptors fans would hate the dude).

Hopefully they force him to put his tail between his legs and issue an apology to Lowry. Clown.

Too many entitled fans. You pay to watch a sporting event. This doesn't allow you to abuse the players, refs, etc.

Yeah, one arm shove two seats away was really going to dislodge Lowry and protect that woman :noway: He put his hands on a player, and as an owner he knows the ramifications. Take his toys away.

Well I guess you have all the answers arm chairing a bang bang incident. I'm just saying that it's not clear whether he was aiming to hurt Lowry or simply push him off a fan who had been flattened. It's not like the owner waited until Lowry got up to push him.

Again, I agree he should have been removed and the incident investigated. You shouldn't put your hands on a player. The reaction and automatic assumption of motive and guilt is troubling to me.

Lowry landed in between two seats, one was a fan and the other was an empty chair. Stevens pushes Lowry away from the empty chair and into the other fan. So clearly not trying to help push off a fan.

Also, the reason the chair was empty was because the woman (Stevens's wife?) was standing and reached to grab the ball before it was out of play (ie, ball was above the endline, not even out of bounds yet)

OK, let's pretend what you just said is plausible.

Why is he yelling disgusting things to Lowry? Please construct a narrative around that.

Lowry claimed he made vulgar comments, which undermines the notion that he's just trying to help the woman valiantly. The Warriors apparently also see it like I do, because they banned him themselves. So, you have the home team banning one of their owners and a partisan fan of the opposite team in agreement.

umm... he was swearing as a fan and shoving as a hero. Perfectly explainable.
