2019 Sixers vs. Peak 2006 Sixers

Post#1 » by sixerswillrule » Sat Jun 8, 2019 3:34 pm

It's the off-season...

Simmons
Redick
Butler
Harris
Embiid

vs.

Iverson
Korver
Iguodala
Webber
Dalembert

Who wins a series? At their peak means all-NBA Webber, all-star Iguodala and "all-star" Korver.

I was about to say the current team pretty easily as a knee jerk reaction before reading the everyone at their peak part. Now I'm flipped. Mo Cheeks coaching and Dalembert Shaqtin a fool would have to be major factors for the current team to win, even with the poor floor spacing of that 2006 squad in today's league.

Haha well that team won 38 games non-peak so yeah that would be an easy choice.

Does the 06 team get peak Mo Cheeks too?

Good idea for a thread. I think the peak 06 team. Remember they also had Lou, Matt Barnes and John Salmons.

I would start Barnes at the 4, Webber at the 5, and move Sam to the bench.

I'd go with former board darling Shavlik Randolph

Just curious....why does the 06 Sixers team get a "peak" Chris Webber when he was never at that level as a member of the Sixers?

Too many what if's in my opinion to accurately gauge....but as much as I love Iverson, I think id take the current team. A "peak" Embiid is dominating no matter who gets thrown at them.

Neither was Korver. Just a hypothetical.

Why does the '06 team get these guys peak when we never had them together even close to peak? So we never saw this peak group ever play together, but we're to assume they would be a juggernaut? Tough to even hazard a guess.

Given we haven't even seen peak Embiid or Simmons and peak Jimmy was a monster? It's 2019 in a sweep.

Dalembert had no range which means Embiid gets to camp the lane and swallow up Iggy and Iverson. Peak Webber is the only player that could give 2019 an issue. But given the lack of outside shooting the Sixers could close ranks and pack the paint/midrange.

In today's game its 2019 and it isn't even close. Iverson gets his points on high volume shooting but still plays no defense, JoJo has Sam in foul trouble every night and the impact of the 3 ball is too big in today's game.

I think it would be a near sweep for 2019 Sixers unless Iverson went nuts for 40 ppg or something.

I think you guys are underrating peak Webber. He was super annoying when he was here but the guy made first team all nba as a forward in a year where the 2nd and 3rd team guys were KG, Tmac, Malone and Dirk.

I think Webber would get bodied by Embiid. There would be no reason to put Embiid on prime Dalembert on defense. Honestly, they'd be down a man on offense because Dalembert couldn't do anything on offense.
