Who knows what the number ends up being but he’s not acting like a guy that’s looking to leave.

I have no real fear that Jimmy is leaving. Tobias, however, is a different situation.

Odds Jimmy would accept a 4-year max instead of 5?

Maxey/Hield/Downtin
Batum/Oubre/Council

He and his agent will seek that 5th year and I'd support giving it to him. A four year max would be ideal, but our window is now and we're not contenders without Jimmy. If that 5th year is what it takes, so be it.

There's no realistic alternative scenario that's better than just running it back.

Should we slide him to the 2? . I like the idea of a 3&D wing while Jimmy is more on the ball.

Replacing JJ in the starting lineup should be with a guard defender. Also Jimmy on the ball has more to do with Ben's role than whether it's JJ or someone else out there.

I confess to the irrational aspiration that Smith will eventually inherit that spot, but he was nowhere near close to it last time we saw him, so at best it's going to take a lot more time, even with the work he's putting in. I like Shake as well, but see him taking TJs spot.

Very slim. I see him going to LA to 4-year instead of us. We have to and probably will offer him 5-year max.

Read on Twitter

If Jimmy wants to leave, please it let it be to a place that needs to sign and trade for him.

Don’t believe in sign and trades but incase its possible.

Sign and Trade scenario.
PHI Gets: J Richardson, Olynyk
Miami Gets: Jimmy Butler and #54 pick

Sixers not in a position of power, since Miami can find other ways to shed salary and sign Jimmy if that’s where he wants to go.

Jimmy Butler is not going to Miami. Only competition is Lakers if they get AD and can clear additional space to afford him and others.

This would be too good to be true, so therefore I can’t believe it has any chance of happening.

I don’t see Jimmy wanting to go to the Lakers to be 2nd fiddle to LeBron while being the 1st blamed if anything goes wrong.

I don't want any of Miami's hot garbage. would need to be a 3 team deal of some sort for me.

Earlier in this thread a so-called 76ers insider said they knew for a fact that if Brett Brown was brought back, Jimmy Butler was definitely out.

It's getting interesting. Somebody still might make a crazy offer or do something dumb (i.e., panic). Namely,
the Knicks.

But it would appear that the Anthony Davis auction has narrowed down to the Lakers and Boston. And it comes
down to how Griffin evaluates Tatum IMO. Ainge has to win the trade to keep Kyrie and have a chance to re-sign
Davis. Pelinka needs to win the trade for the Lakers to be relevant and possibly win a championship before age
finally catches up to LeBron; also for Butler to come into play.

But assuming that Griffin feels Tatum has more upside than Ingram (who's due for a payday), Kuzma or Ball, then
Ainge will have to include Tatum to make the trade. Otherwise, the Lakers win hands down. Ingram, Kuzma, Ball
and/or Hart and the 4 pick vs. Jaylen Brown, Smart and the 14, 20 and/or 22 picks.

I believe Griffin makes the deal with Boston if Ainge includes Tatum, Smart and 14 plus perhaps next year's Memphis
pick, which means we would have to face a formidable opponent next year: Davis, Horford (who might opt out
for several more years guaranteed), Brown and Kyrie (who will probably re-sign regardless of what C's fans think).

If it's the Celtics, we probably have a lock on Butler.

The Pelicans roster: Zion ($8 mil), Jrue ($26 mil), Tatum ($8 mil), Smart ($12 mil), Randle maybe ($9 mil; he on a
player option) plus Hill and Moore (combined $22 mil; both expirings). I can't see a way to make the Celtics take Hill's
$13 mil without sending back salary.

If they trade with the Lakers: Zion ($8 mil), Jrue ($26 mil), Kuzma ($2 mil), Ingram and/or Ball ($7 mil or $9 mil),
Hart ($2 mil) and Randle maybe. I suspect they could make the Lakers take Hill's salary. And of course the 4 pick
would have to be included, most likely to be used in a trade for another player.

Either way, the Pelicans should have slightly more than $20 mil of cap space to play with in the free-agency market
(more than $30 mil if they trade Davis to the Lakers) plus the 39 and 57 picks in the second round. They need to make
the trade by Thursday if they want to parlay those picks - particularly the Lakers 4 pick - into a trade for another player.
I would think a center would be their biggest need although they should have the cap space to make an offer to either
of the Lopezes (Robin or Brooke), Kanter perhaps, or Dewayne Dedmon.

They could have a pretty good team.

Looks like they're 20 million over the cap once Whiteside opts in. That's a crap ton of salary they would need to shed.

I’d actually be good with some of their garbage as long as Richardson is coming back. Assuming Butler is dead set on Miami.
