People can’t question Durants heart anymore. Played when he shouldn’t have.

I hope he really did know the risk and the people around him made him aware of the likelihood of this happening. But regardless, he showed a lot of heart today coming back with his impending free agency. He could've just mailed it in.

He was probably aware of the slander he's getting by sitting out all these Finals games, that's why he suited up in this do-or-die game. It was a win-win for his reputation, but lose-lose for his health...

I don't know why people are blaming GS, I'm pretty sure Durant wanted to play

This reminds me when Kobe tore his Achilles. The team somehow managed to play inspired and hold on for a critical win needed to make the playoffs.

But the team fell apart the rest of the way.

I hope this starts changing people's views of him and earns him more of the respect he deserves.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

I’d still pay KD the max. His talent is too good even once he comes back imo

You do realize that having a compound fracture or torn ACL would be far better news than a torn Achilles?

Wasn’t just him either. They had supposedly shut Looney down for the series then cleared him for game 5 only for him to leave midway through after aggravating his injury.

And they also OKed Cousins to play on a torn quad which probably should have ended his playoff run.

We sure they didn’t steal the Pelicans’ medical staff before they poached the Suns’ trainer?

And it's the fan/media narratives that pressured him to play. I guess we got what we deserve.

That why I'm saying if there can be legal ramifications for such negligence on the Warriors part. Can Durant sue them if he doesn't get the Max?

Does Bob Myers not know this before tonight?

Those slow-motion replays all over twitter show something snapping...I can't imagine a strain looking like that.

Soldier?! KD will never be the same, see Kobe Bryant.KD is 30 turning 31 with alot of miles on his legs, this may be the end of his career as the best player in the NBA. There should be hell to pay for destroying someone's career while still on their prime by negligence and faulty diagnosis.

there should be, but mike d'antoni got away with it when he destroyed Kobe

The player's union should start an investigation. Something is off here, either with the medical team that spent a month diagnosing/treating the injury, or the organization.

Should golden state medical staff be culpable for malpractice?

Post#134 » by 1993Playoffs » Tue Jun 11, 2019 4:25 am

This is exactly why Kawhi did what he did last year. KD was clearly not ready to play and the medical staff OKd him to be out there smh

Media wanted him back just as much. They wouldn’t shut up about him playing since Saturday. They should feel guilty too.

The doctors who cleared him are probably the most to blame in all seriousness. It’s not like what he was doing when he hurt it wasn’t typical basketball motions performed in a game.

He was facing external pressure from EVERYONE to come back. His coach kept talking about it, his team mates kept talking about it, fans and media especially kept talking about it.

This was definitely a mis-hap on the Warriors medical staff though.

What I want to know, were they previously aware of his Achilles issue? What were they thinking when Durant was icing his Achilles after shoot arounds? Was the calf issue a smoke screen this whole time? Lots of questions that fans want to know.

I agree that it is most likely a tear. But the title of the thread makes it sound like Shams is reporting it is a tear. Which is not the case.

This really wasn't hard to foresee. I'm not usually one to bash the media, but it bothered me how many prominent media members immediately after game 4 started pushing the narrative that Durant absolutely had to come back and save the day. Ultimately it was likely KD's decision to play, but all the outside pressure surely didn't help.

F off kid. Myers is literally one of the most liked, trusted and respected dudes in ALL of the NBA. to suggest he even had a semblance of knowledge about this beforehand u better have some legit sources behind that.

they wouldn't have trotted him out there if it was a partial achilles tear.

you know...maybe not, you'd think they'd know. But I know for a fact that Boogie had had occasional discomfort in his achilles in the year leading up to it popping...somehow nobody made the diagnosis, or never connected it to the need for a long rest to heal, whatever.

Can an MRi not see an achilles strain?

Honest question...

Should Bob Myers be reprimanded for this?
