I am. The Warriors definitely have some fault here. There's a reason why Myers said "if you want to blame anyone, blame me". The NBA needs to do a full investigation here. This could set a dangerous precedent.

You’re free to believe nothing will come out of this, I think something will be done about this by Durant and his camp.

This is when you release a statement opting in into your 30+mil, recover then bolt. You owe them nothing

A torn Achilles is up there with the worst NBA injuries. Sure he can comeback, but probably will be significantly worse.

I guarantee KD wanted to play

Kevin Looney wanted to play in Game 4 and they forced him out there, he hurts himself again and a Third Party Doctor tells him that he has no business playing, now he is basically sitting out.

I'm sure Durant wanted to play, but a Team Medical staff could fall under pressure to force a guy out there. They forced Durant to think he was fine, just to extend this Series. And Durant has an ego to accept it.

Kawhi was under the same situation, team medical staff said he was fine, he goes to to a third party and they say he is not fine. Kawhi ego tells him to sit out. Different people, different decisions, but same situation. Feel bad for KD. But most people saw this risk coming, Game 5 was extremly risky. They rolled the dice and they lost.

I think KD may opt in now. Seems like the smart move.

For KD yeah but somebody made a mistake. They announced that he didn't have any time restriction after missing a month, multiple reporters saying he's not moving that well just past week and 10 minutes of game time and he has an achilles injury. That looks like gross incompetence

sue? on what grounds? forced to play? that's nonsense

I really hope the injury is not career threatening. This guy is too good and still in his prime to be taken away from this game so soon.

You do realize that having a compound fracture or torn ACL would be far better news than a torn Achilles?

Not to sound like a horrible person but the compound fracture is the best of the 3 especially if it’s a clean break

People saying the Spurs did this to Kawhi make no sense. Pop and RC asked Kawhi's reps to let them declare him out for the season which they refused. The Warriors actually were pressuring KD to play.

There should be a high bar for evidence if you want to hold them liable. It's possible everything looked good, he felt good, was moving well, wanted to play, and this is just an unfortunate situation.

Absolutely terrible. The Warriors should have kept him out at all costs, no matter how much KD wanted to play.

RRFB wrote:This really wasn't hard to foresee. I'm not usually one to bash the media, but it bothered me how many prominent media members immediately after game 4 started pushing the narrative that Durant absolutely had to come back and save the day. Ultimately it was likely KD's decision to play, but all the outside pressure surely didn't help.

That's exactly what I thought, he got pressured from within and outside to return, and he took the bait. GS medically clearing him was pure negligence.

But that's when the medical team and other personnel should be there to look out for players. Every player want to play in the FInals. Sometimes, they just can't, and shouldn't. There is noway you can tell me this injury (most likely torn achilles) is not due to the injury he has been nursing. This is just a very very bad look at the GS organization imo.

He's a grown man, one of the top 3 players in the league in his prime, and his team is on the brink of getting eliminated from the finals. If he had his mind set on playing there's nobody who could have stopped him. I'm sure they informed him of the risk and he accepted it, just as any great competitor would. And I think it paid off for him. Nobody is ever going to forget what he did. He'll always be remembered as a hero for the Warriors. What he did might end up inspiring his team to win the championship. And no matter how bad the injury is the Warriors are still going to offer him a max contract.

So you don't think the team should take any blame?
