they wouldn't have trotted him out there if it was a partial achilles tear.

you know...maybe not, you'd think they'd know. But I know for a fact that Boogie had had occasional discomfort in his achilles in the year leading up to it popping...somehow nobody made the diagnosis, or never connected it to the need for a long rest to heal, whatever.

Can an MRi not see an achilles strain?

So this Achilles tear is a separate incident that is irrelevant to his injury from the semi? If that's the case then it's really tough luck.

Or maybe playing with a strained calf was putting too much pressure on his already tight Achilles. I am no doctor, just trying to figure out what people really know / don't know behind the scenes to get a full picture.

Damn. I called it as soon as I saw him fall on to the floor and immediately reach for the Achilles tendon with his hands. Non-contact injury and whith that reaction afterwards, you just knew it.

KD has to have some self accountability for this, but also the team does to. They had to have known the risks, and clearly KD was NOT ready despite all the reports dragging his name, and reputation through the mud then the team "clearing him to play". He should have just been ruled out for the series, and just move on with it... Instead they tired the Bill Belicheck approach and went for the mind games instead.

Just seems so shady to me

I dont think he'll be a top 10 players again. It's crazy that Kerr didn't even give him any mins restriction in his first game back, pretty much let him out there for dead.

This was probably the answer.

it sucks because this guy has gotten so much crap for being sensitive like real people are, and how much of all of that questioning his toughness compelled him to try to prove himself? I honestly think he did if for his teammates, but dude showed so much heart, and he was almost in a no win situation. Play and take that chance or not play and hear the doubters question his desire.

I hope the Warriors max him out and take their time and dont rush him back. I hope hes a Warrior for life because he put it all on the line for us.

F off kid. Myers is literally one of the most liked, trusted and respected dudes in ALL of the NBA. to suggest he even had a semblance of knowledge about this beforehand u better have some legit sources behind that.

This is just like everyone **** on the spurs for kawhi's situation. When you don't have any idea what happened, you form baseless assumptions that support whatever proconcieved notions you had at the time.

...are you serious?

I am. The Warriors definitely have some fault here. There's a reason why Myers said "if you want to blame anyone, blame me". The NBA needs to do a full investigation here. This could set a dangerous precedent.

Not what I'm questioning. He obviously feels guilty. Gimme a break with the fake crying.

If Durant has a player option, he'll pick it up now, right?

Yep. If a player is every questionable they should force them to sit

No. The teams have no real power to make him play or not. His contract is fully guaranteed. Durant probably wanted to play as well. Just the worst case scenario all around. The sad thing is that the Warriors probably convinced themselves that it wasn't that bad so they could get back into the series while Durant convinced himself he could play through pain/wanted to prove the haters wrong. Just a bad break for everyone. I truly don't think anyone had any malice or truly pressured him to play against his will.

No. Durant is an adult. He made the decision to play. It's unfortunate, but he still made the decision. You can't hold the medical staff liable for this.

It wasn’t the Warriors organizations fault you CLOWNS. I’m one of the people who was calling KD out of his name numerous times throughout the series because they wasn’t providing a lot of info. Kevin Durant himself wanted to play because he loves this game & outside of you boneheads hating on his decision to go to the Warriors apparently all these guys have a brotherly bond that’s unbreakable. 2 Warriors went down tonight & left it all on the court. Prayers to KD & Looney

Bro, it would have been MUCH better if he did get a compound fracture or torn ACL.

Torn Achilles is like the worst injury an NBA player can have. Sure, KD can come back, but won't possibly be the same player.

Man I really didn’t wish this on KD. Feels like all the bullying and needing to prove himself he went into a game he had no business playing. Put it in the Warriors medical staff too but that’s just heartbreaking. Never wanna see a dude lose his livelihood

A torn Achilles is up there with the worst NBA injuries. Sure he can comeback, but probably will be significantly worse.

Kobe came back as a shell of his former-self after his Achilles rupture. I’m hoping Durant can come back from this.
