David Ortiz had a second surgery after arriving in Boston.
Ortiz was shot in his native Dominican Republic on Sunday night.
The 43-year-old arrived in Boston on Monday night for the surgery and is in stable condition, his wife, Tiffany, said in a statement.
Ortiz was shot at a club in Santo Domingo and underwent emergency surgery to repair damage done by the bullet to both his intestines and his liver. He was stabilized and then flown to Boston and taken by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital.
