Re: Anthony Davis Trade Thread Shimmies to #8
I’m going to keep pushing my Jaylen to LA angle - the Lakers believe Jaylen gets them very close to a Davis deal with Ingram - negotiation hinges on picks/Kuzma - Boston is planning for life without Kyrie and is on the fence about including Tatum in a trade for Davis, but hope that Marcus Smart, picks 4, 14, 20 and 22 in this year’s draft, and the MEM pick will be enough to entice New Orleans. Both teams believe that even if they miss out on Davis, they are now in better position heading into the offseason.

Come on, you can't really believe that? Lonzo has proven zero. The #4 pick in what is thought of as a 3 player draft. And Ingram could be done, or at least limited (which I hope doesn't happen). Smart, first team all NBA defense. Brown and Tatum, have already been to the ECF. I know people like to be contrarian, but bring something better than that.
Brown is a surer thing than Lonzo or Ingram, much higher floor, comparable ceiling - Ingram still has a lot to figure out even if he’s medically ok, Lonzo may never learn to shoot or finish at the rim, and then he’s basically a taller Ricky Rubio..
Brown can’t dribble. Smart can’t shoot. Once Lakers throw Kuz in, this deal is done.

I imagine our only interest in these negotiations is to drive up the price for the Lakers. DA isn’t trading for a guy who will leave after 1 year, and has already shown he’ll quit on his team. Especially with Kyrie leaving too.

Two players in the 4th year of their rookie deals. It's just bad math.
Good assessment:

Should take less from us to get him just to remove the issue of Davis in the west. Imo but granted that's just fan talk.
I always thought that was crazy thinking. ( not calling u crazy) . Gotta take the best deal.

I think he did give the green light, IMO. KD undergoes surgery, and then a report leaks today that the Knicks primary target is now Kawhi, and that they don't value Kyrie as much because they think (i.e. they know) he prefers Brooklyn. Kyrie then looks at Brooklyn and wonders if he wants to give up $50 million, and then be faced with having to waste a year waiting for KD (assuming the Nets sign him) while he plays with the likes of Caris Levert, Jarret Allen, Joe Harris and Ryan Dinwiddie.

Ball can’t shoot, can’t stay healthy and brings circus with him.

Idk I think if the interest is real serious and not a leverage play it’s just ainge having huge balls and believing that maybe he can change kyries mind and also believing he can convince him to stay (right or wrong)

Brown, Smart, 14, and 20? Hell, substitute 20 for the Memphis pick just to make sure it isn't close.
I'm not too high on the Lakers players. Not even because they are on the Lakers. I just don't see it. Ball and Ingram are both too fragile. Ingram's contract and health issues make him a horrid asset. Ball has missed one season out of 2 and has been a worse shooter than Smart in his first 2 years in the league. Both Smart and Jaylen are far superior defenders and even athletes. Both shoot the 3 better. Jaylen easily has the highest potential- strength, athletic ability, shooting, defense, availability.
Agreed on all accounts. I can't imagine Griffin is dumb enough to win Zion, then surround him with players who don't compliment his skill set. Neither Ball or Ingram stretch the floor and the spacing (even with Jrue) would be an issue. If the defense can sag off of non-shooters then that's going to make Zion's life of the court much more difficult.
As much crap as Smart has gotten for being a bad shooter, he was much better than Ball, Ingram or even Kuzma from deep last season. He's wild at times but he obviously makes up for that with his "winning plays". Brown was really good from 3 in 17-18 but fell off a little last season. He was still better than the Lakers guys though.

Lonzo cant dribble or shoot...
And Kuzma cant shoot or defend.
Funny and both true. Kuzma is the 2nd worst 3 point shooter at the number of attempts he had this season at .303%(more than 5 a game I think). Lonzo has been historically bad shooting the ball in his first 2 seasons, I think he's the 2nd worst ever or something like that.

I just can’t get excited for this. That is unless Kyrie commits too.
