We knew the AD-to-LAL drumbeat would pick up about now. But I still struggle to see this Lakers package winning out.
Honestly, Jaylen/Smart is still a better package than the rest, we might not even have to add the MEM pick or Rob Williams.. remember we can offer future first-rounders, too - BOS 2020, BOS 2022, BOS 2024..

If Davis bolts I would need protection on those picks

Alright lads. Looks like it isn't happening tonight.
Off to watch the Bruins stomp a mud hole on the Blues.

At least one of them would have to be unprotected. You want to keep Tatum, then you need to go over the top with the picks.
I still think Tatum will need to be involved, but who knows.

Kyrie staying because of AD is like a 5% chance of happening.... the only reason i'd give it that 5% is because from what I know he's long gone and it would be a MASSIVE backflip on his part.
Edit: VERY happy to be wrong about that though if they get AD and Kyrie does stay and we build a true contender.
Hate to bug you with questions, but do you have a feel if they think a Kyrie S&T is possible at all? No worries if you can't answer or haven't heard.
Can’t say, as in I don’t know.... unfortunately I can’t rail off 10 questions and get answers for themI would if I could though!
Yep, totally understand. Thanks!

Yep, otherwise we turn into the new Nets. Can trade those picks without at least top 5 protection

The problem with both deals as they stand is that there is no "crown jewel". After the trade Griffin needs to sit at a press conference and be able to point to someone as the reason they did the deal. In the KG trade this was Big Al. New Orleans currently doesn't have that player in either offer.
Even if you're an Ingram super fan (which apparently NO is not), his health situation prevents him from having the shine you want for a guy like AD. Lonzo comes with baggage and still can't shoot or stay healthy. They're both nice pieces, but you can't really stand behind them at a presser and grin. As for the #4 pick, there are like 6 guys in play and none of them are particularly exciting. Hunter? Garland? Culver? White? Reddish? Clarke? It's a big shrug at this point.
From the Celtics side, without Tatum you have Brown and Smart, two guys you definitely want on your team but still lacking in star potential. I think that's the hold up here. Without Tatum the fans and ownership won't buy in.
The Lakers don't have that guy so they have to trade their pieces for someone who they can sell as a star. Think it really will come down to who blinks first (or if LA can find a 3rd party to trade a star for their guys).

Not sure.. first-round picks are tough to come by - we've got 14, 20 and 22 in this year's draft, the MEM pick, and our own future firsts - the 20th or 14th pick in this year's draft, plus our 2021 first, plus our 2023 first, that's a haul, more than anyone else is offering, and no one else is offering a prospect as high floor high ceiling as Jaylen or a point guard as perfect for a rebuilding team as Smart..

Supposedly AD bought a home recently near LA Live, which is near Staples.
Lot of pro athletes who play for LA teams have places there, including Lebron.

lol the way the Pelicans love to troll, I could see that as yet another factor that pushes AD here

I don't think that's an issue - Jaylen has star upside, he's a dunker.. and they're getting Zion. New Orleans doesn't really have a fanbase, anyway - I think they're headed to a new city before Zion's rookie contract is up.
