I think that DLO is going to happen lol It fits with the youth movement. This board is going to go NUTS. I'm not sure where we'll go from there. Any other young guys on the market?

restricted by Brooklyn but if they sign Kyrie and another FA, they have to renounce his rights. They may anyways since DLO indicated that he didn't want Kyrie.

Nobody really good is available in 2020. Maybe AD if he goes to free agency, but I doubt it, and I'm not betting he'd choose us. So we can't get a FA to pair with KD for 21

2021, KD comes back, and his team is a bunch of kids. Absolute best case scenario if he comes back completely the same player with no affects from the achilles, we're maybe, maybe a 43 win team, first round loss. Then, even if a top free agent wants to come, we have to make significant cuts to the youth we've been developing to fit them around KD's cap hold. And now KD is entering the season at 33, and even assuming the injury didn't affect him, he's gonna start declining at some rate. So if we look long term, we need to sign a top FA in 2021 or else we end up in a situation where KD's contract overlaps with the kids getting new deals, which means we don't have any space to bolster the roster, and we end up middling until KD leaves and the kids come into their primes

There's nothing to gain by signing him at this point, even if he pulls a Nique

Mitch is signed for 3 years for cheap, RJ would be on a rookie deal still.
Frank might be gone. We don’t know what progression Knox & DSJr will have. We don’t know who we drafting next year.

Dotson and Trier expire at the end of the coming season. Mitch, Frank and DSJ in summer 2021.

Lifetime minute restriction. Lol that sounds horrible but I think you’re right.

I remember the same thing after the stress reaction in his leg. It was going to be chronic and he could have a minutes restriction for the rest of his career.

But the other day I was looking up data on a lot of the guys in the headlines lately and ran into a stat that blew my mind, probably more than anything I've seen this year - here is the total minutes played leaderboard for this past season:

They don't have a choice if they sign Jimmy Butler or Harris. They'll have to renounce his cap hold.

Frank and DSJ will have to be gone if we want a max FA in 2021. Both will have cap holds of 15 mil. And Mitch will have to be re-signed that year too, because if we pick up his 4th year, he becomes an unrestricted free agent

We have less flexibility than you think, and again, this is assuming KD doesn't drop off at all

Mitch can’t hit FA until 2022. Why do people keep saying 2021?

With all this talk of Kyrie and Tobias to Brooklyn. DLo.... being available is a thing.

Could he work next to RJ, Knox, and Mitch?

Knicks want him contingent on KD signing here.

4th year is a team option

If we pick it up, he's an unrestricted free agent in 2022

If we decline it, he's a restricted free agent in 2021

Meaning we could keep him an extra year for cheap, but he can just f*ck off if he wants at age 23
