They don't have a choice if they sign Jimmy Butler or Harris. They'll have to renounce his cap hold.

I think they want Tobias. They've been talking about him since the Playoff series and it doesn't make sense to bring in Kyrie to play with DLo. Their styles don't mess well because DLo is too ball dominant. Also they got Dimwiddie on a good contract.

People haven't noticed the trend of Sean Marks wanting players that are from New York.

He knows by bringing in players from the area the fans will show up to support one of their own.

The other free agent they sign with Kyrie will be Tobias.

I would spend the rest of our money taking on contracts that come with first rounders. Add DLo to the core and acquire more first rounders.

That's a good plan B if we can't get Kawhi.

I don't know why the Nets are fascinated with Tobias Harris, I'll rather keep DLo. Kyrie + Jimmy is solid.

I could get on board with that plan.

Ima be sick if we turn our noses at DLo. Kemba got 220 reasons to stay & Kyrie is going to the K. Unless Ja drops to 3, you snag DLo.

They wanna play a certain way and he fits perfectly. Nobody could stop Kyrie and the floor would be spread with him at the 4

Kemba at age 22 - 17.7/3.5/5.7 - Shooting Splits: .423/.322/.798
DLO at age 22 - 21.1/3.9/7.0 - Shooting Splits: .434/.369/.780

The .432 is kind of an outlier for Kemba. He shot under 40% overall in 3 of his first 4 years. Point is, DLO is on a higher trajectory than Kemba, Lowry, Conley and many other very good-to-great PGs. He can also slide off the ball at times which is nice.

Russell needs to be a target. We can get a 23 year old guy who has gotten better each season and will be motivated after being passed over again.

I’m been a DLO fan since the jump but he’s not a max worthy player. Plain and simple.

I hope people aren't willing to give D'Angelo a max contract because he was an all-star this year?

Not seeing the connection with ROC and Nets. Jay is a Knicks fan at heart and sold his share in the Nets.

You have him from age 23-27 and his max is a lot smaller than other guys.

You're comparing them to guys 28 to 34 year old. They are elite for their age group. They will eventually become elite as the older guys fall off. Get ahead of the curve.

Who on that list is elite? Beal?

RJ is an elite prospect in his age group... Beal is an elite true SG in his age group. DLo is not elite but is on a trajectory above the likes of Conley, Lowry and Kemba. He looks like he'll be equivalent to a Lillard in his prime... which is 4-5 years away still.

I would take Russell if it means I don't have to watch Mudiay ever again.

Yes

If they sign Kyrie and Butler or Kyrie and Harris, then Russel is a FA?

Yes, they have to free themselves of his cap-hold to sign two 30%-FAs

I honestly would sign him to a max. I think his contract projects better than Kyries for the next 4 years and moving forward.

I even did some math and if you trade DSJr, Knox, 2020 Knicks 1st and the 2021 Mavs 1st for Beal, then we'd have a max slot open for Giannis/Towns/etc in 2021.

Allegedly Washington was willing to trade Beal for RJ+Frank+2020-NYK-FRP. I don't think DSJ+Knox cut it, but who knows. Either way it seems terribly cheap for Beal. It's hard to see that deal straight up - but maybe I'm really wrong here.

Anyway, sure. If you take on no salary beyond 2021 you have loads of space in 2021. But why are Giannis, Towns etc going to be interested in coming to a team that is for two years Beal + the kids + (doesn't matter as they go to open the cap space)?

Getting talent for free at a reasonable cost is a go.
