Kyrie + Cousins really would be the next Starbury + Eddy Curry

That would be Eddy Curry or Jerome James.
Eddy Curry was just a bad overpaid player. I don't remember him causing as much drama as Marbury did.

He's not even the NBA PG that averaged 19+ ppg and 7+ apg over a decade plus long NBA career most at the root cause for the Knicks' problems.

Isiah Thomas almost certainly set the Knicks back further / caused more grief.

It’s actually a pretty decent comparison, but I voted no because Marbury was my favorite player as a kid when he was going to Georgia Tech and I can’t stand Kyrie. Just causes too much cognitive dissonance in my mind to conflate them.

Marbury and Garnett were friends or cousins or something from a young age. So that breakup exceeds the Kyrie/Lebron one. And Kyrie's ability to juggle an NBA career with some film-making exceeds Marbury combining an easier basketball league with a shoe business.
But yeah -- directionally, you have a point.

I hate click bait threads. How about you just add "Kyrie" to the title, instead of looking for attention.

Honestly, no. It's a pointless reach to create a thread.
Also, do some of y'all even care about basketball anymore or are you too engrained in the circus?

i realized stephon marbury was off his rocker that time he ate vaseline on a livestream, the vid is probably still on youtube, and when kyrie left the green pastures of cleveland instead of compete for titles & then said he thinks the earth is flat whether he was yanking our chain or serious, i realized he was a little off his rocker as well.

that is true but at least he was the GM at the time.

He was already out of the league by that time though right? I was referring more to directly basketball related stuff to be honest.

Well Isiah Thomas (aka the 19/9 career average PG) is easily worse.

I do, Kyrie seems to be decomposing mentally. Hopefully he gets it together, not even as a basketball player, but from human perspective.

Talented yes, not everyone who is talented is immediately a great leader. Forced his way out of an ideal situation? Everyone knew LBJ was leaving and Kyrie wanted out before that. I see nothing with what he did to what multiple other guys have done over the past few years.
So many keyboard psychologists here.
Let the man live for God sake. Is he the worst person on the planet because he thinks the earth is flat? If he goes to the Nets or wherever he wont have to be the leader he can just go out and drop 25 a game and be just another guy on the team. I dont expect to see Kyrie eating vasoline on youtube anytime soon.

Marbury was horrible. One of the most toxic teammates I have ever seen in my life. He was the definition of a narcissist.
Kyrie has issues but he does not get near Marbury level IMO.

My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point.

People still refer to people 'pulling a marbury' on here almost 15 years after all that drama went down there. The only other player i've heard referred to when talking about NBA drama that far after is Latrell Sprewell (both that '12 million isn't enough to feed my family' and him strangling his coach).
