I'm actually just seeing this, and it's so damn sad. You kind of forget that the users on the other side of this are real people with real problems, when you just look at text.

Rare these days on the boards (or anywhere?) that someone has a distinct perspective/POV they're defending and can still speak about it in a reasonable and poised manner, and Mags was consistently like that. Always appreciated his sort of humility, which wasn't 'Oh I don't know very much, you tell me' but more like 'look, this seems quite right to me but I could be wrong for a few reasons, drinks on me if so.' Much respect for that, made these boards a much better place during his run.

These are some very sad news. I remember that Mags was one of the moderators that advocated for me when I was first becoming a mod back in the day. He was always a pretty cool dude and I'm surprised to find out that he was facing serious health issues. But I guess that his spirit was stronger than his issues so he was able to keep his upbeat mood. It really is a testament to who he was.

R.I.P. Mags. You will be missed :beer:

PS: Is there any way to change the name of the :beer:

emote to Mags? I always associated that emote with him and it seems like a good way to honor him.

I didn't know him, but I read up about his story and all and it seems like he was a pretty cool dude. I know what it's like to lose people in an online community, and I am sorry that you all are going through this right now.

I’m one of the “old” posters that is making a small comeback—and I wanted to mention that there’s a reason that RealGM has remained a quality site for over a decade now. It’s because of Howard Mass and people like Magnumt. Dharam was a good guy. We were on opposite sides in terms of teams we supported and geography—but I never had anything but respect for the way he treated other people and the way he regarded basketball. We all love a great sport, but that love sometimes needs to be put in context. Dharam did that. He was a good man in ways that clearly extended beyond talking about sports. I’ll miss him.
