We need to tank and find a superstar.

You want a new GM? Who would we get that is better than Ainge?

Author of article paints a scenario where this could drag on until mid-July. If Griffin isn't impressed with any of the offers pre-draft and any of the potential #3 or #4 picks, he might just wait until free agency is over and teams who missed out on major FAs could come back to him with a better offer.

Let's see if Lebron/Lakers can wait that long.

Sounds like a rehash story as that scenario was thrown around a good week ago.

More a reminder than anything. Most people seem to expect this is done within the week. There's significant chance that might not be the case if teams are lowballing Griff.

Yeah, I'll do that too. Regardless of who we sign this offseason.

Same— even if its Rozier.

The problem with waiting till after free agency for pels is if the wrong team strikes out. It looks like lakers will but what if they land someone and your left with the clippers who don’t have the assets or another team like Brooklyn with a so so package.

It’s def possible and they could wait but I don’t see that happening- I think the woj article yesterday got people expecting an expedited process but it’s just not gonna be that quick.

I suspect NO prefers Brown, Smart, picks, etc. over what LA and NYK have, but is trying to bluff Boston into Tatum or adding more when free agency starts.

That's not what Celtics fans were saying prior to the season.

Then this year happened

Kyrie showed himself to be a poor excuse for an adult this year.

This is bonkers. You don't ditch Tatum and Brown and even Smart, at their ages, to tank.

They're not good enough to win championships

Better than sitting on their hands because they missed out on their prize.

Just like previous years when teams demanded assets just because we had them. We dont need to include Tatum to have the best deal (compared to Lakers) in nearly every scenario. Griffin can trade with the Lakers if he has to, much to the chagrin of the team owner and the rest of the league if he trades too cheap.

Ainge has failed. Had all the pieces in the world to build a real contender and wasn't able to deliver. It's true that we had bad luck with the Hayward injury, but it doesn't change the fact that we could've had Paul George, Kawhi and so on and he didn't go for it.

On top of that, his draft record has been atrocious. Hasn't been able to draft a single decent role player (nevermind a star) outside of the lottery in this latest rebuild.

Highly disagree. Just like if pels loved the 4 pick and lakers package a deal would be done- if pels loved a Jaylen brown package that would be done. They don’t want a package without Tatum it’s just wishful thinking

i think sometimes the celtics brass can get a little too arrogant and "everything is fine all the time" about things.

Return to Boston Celtics
