That can't be right.. only a few players have come back to a high level after tearing an Achilles. Dominique was still beastly, but a lot of other guys either just couldn't play anymore or had a few average years and faded. I think Durant is at such a high level that he can still be all-star level, but not really at the level we've seen him in the past few years.

Tons of players (especially guards) have torn their ACLs and been able to play solid-good-great depending on their skill levels.

Spencer Dinwiddie
Lou Williams
Zach LaVine (solid this last year)
Ricky Rubio
Kyle Lowry
Baron Davis
Danny Manning
Tim Hardaway Jr.

Even I tore my achilles playing grabbing a rebound and a year later, I was as good as ever. And, it has never bothered me since. Still strong.

Sad thing is Kawhi has Toronto by the ballsack. If he leaves they’re a 2nd round team and do they look to move Lowry Gasol or Ibaks.

Offseason shall be an interesting one

Glad GS dominance has ended.

Crazy how KD and Klay now are both out for long periods...going to throw the market upside down.

ACL might be more painful ( like somebody can actually grade it..) but for athlete ,and for person in general, achillie is much worst injury

why is that? seems a better healing injury. most medical reports say harder to fully recover from ACL than Achilles

Expect Curry to average 40ppg and Draymond a triple-double next season.

Maybe in terms of strict rehab time Achilles isn’t as bad as ACL but all anecdotal evidence and all NBA injuries, Achilles tears are almost career enders/career altering for everyone who’s ever had one in the NBA.

ACL tears are almost like stubbed toes these days (half-joking)

They can't resign KD and Klay. KD will miss the whole year. Klay will be very close to missing the whole year. They would have to sign 1 or 2 big free agents to compete next year. Right now they don't make the playoffs. You can't draft KD and Klay in fantasy basketball next year if both are draft eligible.

I think what he means is that the return is slightly longer vs a players return to form.

I tore my ACL back when I was working for the Orlando Miracle. Being as athletic and active I was back then, it still took me 9 months to recover. Have to say it still will never be the same. I always have in the back of my mind I’m going to tear it again. It has slowed me down, but I still get out and do everything I enjoy. Achilles though I have no clue about.

The ACL is a ligament, meaning a tough, relatively inelastic connective tissue band that joins one bone to another. A tendon is a tough relatively inelastic connective tissue band that joins a bone to a muscle. Now, in your question, if we clarify how badly a ligament/tendon is ruptured/torn, the first thing to consider is how badly, ie partially, or completely. So, of you will forgive me, I will restate the question: Which is more serious, and or more difficult to heal? Well, if you destroy the continuity of your ACL, then you still have 3 other ligaments to help hold it semi-stable (bone to bone, remember?). So you can still walk, albeit painfully and not well. Now, of you destroy the continuity of your Achilles tendon, you can no longer push your foot down (as you do when you “point your toes”). This means you cannot walk, because you can't push off the ground with that foot. If both Achilles we're completely severed, you couldn't even stand up.

According to a 2013 medical study that identified 18 players who suffered major Achilles injuries over a 23-year span (1988-2011), seven players never returned to the league. Players who returned missed an average of 56 games and saw their PER decline in their first and second seasons back. A 2015 CBS Sports article found that among 14 players who returned from Achilles injuries since 1992, they averaged fewer minutes while both their field goal and three-point percentages dropped, on average. There are very few complete success stories.

Trackrecord of achilly injury is terrible, especially in nba. In almost all cases but Dominique, it was career killer ( in some cases instant, in some cases simply player was not what he used to be, Kobe'a achilliy kind a retired him, not officially, but it did ).

Re-signing just one of them won't help signing other players, because they will be over the cap anyway.

If they renounce everyone (Klay, KD, Cousins and the minor contracts), they will have only 20M in cap space and I'm not even counting cap holds for minimum players and rookies.

With the developments in science and medicine, a ACL is not as terrible injury as it was 10-15 years ago, still really bad but the prognosis to return to prior ability seems better. Achilles seems to still be a terrible injury and much harder to return to prior ability.

On a side note, Masai seems to be in trouble for shoving a police officer who apparently failed to recognize him and consequently stopped him from entering the court to celebrate with the team.

As much as this event seems out of place, or how it may even be based on racism, it also reminds me how security is ridiculously low and benign in US compared to some European countries. It brings back memories of going to my first NBA game in Miami several years ago where I couldn't believe there was only one police woman which greeted us smiling at the entrance, and nobody from my american friends could understand why this is so weird and unusual for me on so many levels.

Then again, my single experience of Oracle arena in particular is that it had a bit more police, not sure if it's Oakland thing in general or simply side effect of Warriors success that attracted some gang members among fair weather fans which provided some colorful experience waiting in line for subway tickets after the game.

The thing that is remarkable about this Toronto team, no Top 5 or Top 10 picks on this team. It can be done.

Kawhi was a smart man by refusing to play last year for the Spurs because he was injured. Just think of all the peer pressure he had from the coaches, fans, and media.

Yup. I’ll sell the soul of the franchise for one Magic title.

We would all prefer a win with long time magicians at the helm but sometimes that just doesn’t happen.

After mine fully healed, I would forget and go all out on the court. Still had the same vertical as well, speed and lateral quickness.

Mindset definitely can play a big part as well. Personally I was always hesitant afterwards. Out of curiosity do you still have numbness?
