We're finally going to get to see how good Curry is.
Lots of people wanted to put Curry into the top 15 or maybe even 10 of all-time... Offensively he's an all-time great player much like Dirk, but next season with no Klay or KD we're finally going to get to see just how good Curry is. Can he lead a team that would normally be a lottery team into the playoffs with HCA like we've seen great players like Lebron, Kobe, Shaq all do.
If he can keep the Warriors as a top 4 seed next year without Klay and KD he certainly would move up the rankings for me. I think he has got to be a frontrunner for MVP as well if he can lead the team to HCA because he is certainly going to have to score a bunch he might be a 35 PPG player next year.

Both Curry and Klay were amazing in the finals. It's like you can't even give them an inch of room or they will torch you. Even Curry's mid-range and close shots are money, usually players have certain ranges where they're comfortable at Steph can shoot from anywhere, that's the scary part.
Ooops. I didn't even read the thread properly lol. Curry is already great. Next year will prove nothing as they could possibly tank who knows...

lol exactly.
Nevermind that one of Curry's greatest traits is the way he opens up the floor for his teammates, and allows them to excel.
It's going to be hard to showcase that with geriatric Iggy and Livingston (if he returns) and then, what, Quinn Cook and Damian Jones?

This was the Warriors starting lineup to start the 4th quarter:
PG: Cook
SG: Livingston
SF: Jerebko
PF: Green
C: Cousins
Outside of prime Jordan/LeBron, just who was dragging that lineup to victory against the Raps?

The argument is Post 2016 we haven't seen Prime Steph with a normal team for a full season + playoffs.
Pro-Steph fans would point to 2012-2014.
Anti-Steph fans would point to his lack of revelance during that time(being a borderline pick for an All-Star team)
We'll see if he's healthy and whether he plays passive.

East #1 Draft Picks: Fultz, Banchero, Wiggins, Cuninigham

Curry may struggle. Not because he isn't great, but because when you are the only offensive threat on the team, defenses can zero in on you with 2-3 defenders and force the rest of the team to shoot and beat you.
It's next to impossible to get anywhere significant with only 1 offensive player.

Re: We're finally going to get to see how good Curry is.
I think Curry will have a great run next season. He's too talented over the course of 82 games for the Warriors not to be a top team in the West (depending how this offseason shakes out). But the NBA is so full of talented athletic wings right now, it's nearly impossible for a small guard to march through the playoffs being the primary offensive focus. We've seen it with Rose, Lillard, Irving, and now Steph (who I think clearly is the best of the bunch). The game is just so much more difficult if you can't shoot or pass efficiently over double teams to punish that kind of defense. Maybe that's a knock on Curry for not being 6'6, but it shouldn't take away from his utter greatness.
It's time for 5 refs.

we will see how he is without a 20ppg on his team.
the beauty of that backcourt is that they both are screen running players. major threats off ball. people like to think of his style of play as selfless but its pretty much waiting for a shooter to get open. now the other option is gone and it's waiting for one particular shooter to get off screen.
we're going to see the difference between he and Reggie/Ray.

Re: We're finally going to get to see how good Curry is.
The challenge right now looks uphill. Curry, never known as a durable player, will have an immerse offensive load to carry next year. Some mentioned 35 PPG - that is not an easy task, it's not just about skill, it's not just about taking more shots will linearly get you more points, it's getting harder and more taxing on your body; On defense, without their main perimeter defender Klay who is very good at defending the opponent ball handler on Curry's behalf, Curry will be more exposed and worn down. Opponent teams will relentless target Curry. He can take no plays off, there will be no one to take attention away from him, he will likely have to initiate everything (with some help from Draymond) like many of his peers have been doing for years.
Big burden, but also big opportunity for him. Lets see if Curry can rise above all and kill all the doubts once for all.

What does he need to do exactly to 'kill all doubts'?
absolutely remarkable that after everything he's in his career so far, there are 'doubts' in the first place. maybe that's the problem.

Well it’s a legitimate question whether he can carry a team or he is just one to dominate with a goat level cast. We’re about to find out.

Doubts that how well he can carry a team all by himself, not doubts on whether he is good or not. Don't be too defensive on any Curry issues. My post wasn't attacking on him at all.

Carrying a team all by yourself has never been done and is a stupid goal for any player/organization

So what was he doing in 14-15 and 15-16? Even 13-14? Yea, he had very good support the later two seasons, but he's not the first player to have that, and he was doing a good amount of carrying of those teams. I think it will be interesting to see who comes back and how the Warriors adjust, but Curry has already proven he can be a main cog to carry a team. Like always, other guys will step up, the open positions will give opportunities for someone to blossom. Sure, he hasn't shown he can take a possibly below average cast to the playoffs, but I imagine he can, and that's not as interesting as people seem to think.

Tank? Tank? Why? Klay is set to be back in the second half of the season, assuming he resigns which he should. Green certainly wants to come back, tanking makes no sense.

i wasn't attacking you, I know you're one of the fair ones.
Curry was leading the Dubs to 50 win seasons way before the Kerr era Warriors.
furthermore, I doubt we want Curry to expend that much energy next season anyways, looks like a throwaway year at this point.

I don't know, I'm just going by comments and opinions that I'm reading here and there. Maybe the fans are so dejected by both of the injuries that they're willing to forego all of next year.

Re: We're finally going to get to see how good Curry is.
He's BY FAR the best player on a 73 win team where he won MVP but it still wasn't good enough. We need to see more. He has to carry a crap team to the Finals like Lebron did or he's a bust. We're just delusional, ungrateful fans.
