Will Some team offer Vanvleet max money when his contract ends?
after his game 6 performance he could have played his way into alot of money.
nothing would shock me we seen players like this go off and ends up getting big contract and teams ends up regreting it which would happen here cauce valeet is a good player but nowhere but not a max level player.

He has one more year still. I can't imagine people will be remembering his huge post season if he doesn't follow it up well next year.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

then they look at game 5 with 11 pts, game 4 with 8 pts, his 10 ppg vs Milwaukee, 2ppg vs Philly (again, 2 ppg) 7 ppg vs Orlando and then sanity sets back in and is not offered a max

The Max? I don't even think he gets Dinwiddie money...

I agree but we have seen teams do this with players before and regretting it right after.

I think 12M/13M is possibly interesting scenario for the Mavs which does not require a pure PG in starting lineup with Doncic. I think there's a mutual interest in Vanvleet to get a starting role and play alongside great young players with great spacing. Assume the Mavs starting 5 contains elite rolling big (Powell), elite shooter (Zinger), elite playmaker and shooter (Doncic) and a potential top few pick with the best 3D player who can guard multiple positions. Then, Van Vleet is a natural fit into the lineup. I think Pheonix is going to find a good PG this season and Leonard will sign with LAC. The Mavs has no business in contending any soon. And the Mavs won't want to rush Zinger into injury. And the defense could still be problematic with Powell, Doncic and veteran minimum pick-up on expiring contracts. That's not going to land a playoff spot. The Mavs are better off tanking for one last time before giving a pick to NYK.

Isiah Thomas is no longer a GM to offer insane money to someone who produces above expected in the playoffs aka Jerome James.

When has a bench player ever gotten a max contract?

Tracy McGrady started 34 games the season before signing his max deal with Orlando, so maybe that counts. I feel like there's someone else I'm forgetting about, though.
But not Vanvleet, obviously...

McGrady was a slightly different situation. We have to see how he plays next season. He is getting paid 8 million currently. If he improves his game next year and becomes more consistent he could see a pretty big money deal. More than 10 to 12m easily. His defense is elite and he is a good shooter who can run an offense pretty well. That's worth more than 12m even if he is size limited.

Come on now. Max money is ridiculous. But he will get paid enough to stay a rotation player for a few years

He'll probably get a low 8 figure deal, 10-12 maybe, for 2-3 years.

Even if the FVV of the last 9 games (where he started playing well) was guaranteed to show up for an entire season...
How much do you really think you'd pay for 14.7 ppg, 2.4 apg, 2.0 rpg, 1.0 spg on 51/53/86 splits?

when you add in the pesky/consistent defense.. You guarantee those numbers and I’d offer him a max. Over 70 true shooting %, know he can create his own look so the Low PPG doesn’t scare me.. Not afraid of taking a big shot..
But we can’t guarantee those numbers.. So 10-12 mil.

Unless he has a breakout year no. One thing to keep in mind is like Manu I'm not sure FVV should ever play more than mid 20s in minutes for health reasons. He gets banged up every few months as is. FVV loves Toronto and I wouldn't rule out him extending for 11 million per year this offseason

LOL No, Just No.
VanVleet is a nice story, but he's a lot closer to JJ Barea or Patrick Beverly from a talent standpoint than a max player.. He will still get life altering money for a guy who wasn't even drafted. Maybe something near the MLE.
