Siakam should demand max now. Vanvleet can demand 20M per year deal

This summer is sure going to be interesting. Will players take discounts to compete, demand the max or even leave their team as UFA?

This applies to the Raptors but also the Warriors and maybe the Sixers? Not sure on the Bucks situation outside Middleton.

That is just a weird and silly comparison.

I don’t believe they can extend FVV. He signed a two year deal (early bird exception I think), next year is his last on that deal. I believe he will be a UFA.

Siakam is getting paid.

Maybe I just don't understand the extension rules, but you can't offer it to anyone under contract can you? And if you do there are restrictions on how much money you can offer?

FVV for 20mn per is the fastest way to run Kawhi out of town and get the Raps on the treadmill

Everything depends if Kawhi stays.

If he stays and Raptors wants to continue be a Championship team, they should definitely extend both of their contracts.

There's no reason for Raptors to break up that team.

I'm unsure on Siakam. He needs to be retained for sure, but when is the best time to extend him. On one hand, locking him in now could be a way to get him on a discount, as if he continues to improve he could just continue to up his value. On the other hand, not extending him would mean in 2020 he would only have a $7 million cap hold, combined with Gasol, Lowry, and Ibaka all expiring could mean Raptors could have a ton of cap room

Fred, I don't believe this is an effective way to negotiate. Let your agent handle it!

PS. Great series!

Siakam is a piece anyone would want.

FVV has a very clear and defined role. He’s a high-end backup PG. Anyone would want him for that role, but until you get a commitment from Kawhi, what you want to pay for that role and how it fits in the overall context is important. Should Kawhi leave, you don’t want an overpaid backup PG If you have to rebuild. He was the worst player in the playoff until about idway through Bucks series. Raps fans were calling him overpaid, now we’re taking extensions nd $20 million? I don’t think so.

With Siakam they don’t really have to do anything until 2020. Siakam would have to take a team friendly contract to make it worth their while and it will hurt their cap flexibility in 2020 if they pay him early.

But I highly doubt FVV gets extended, they’re limited in the raise they can offer and I could see FVV wanting all his options open as a UFA in 2020.

Masai is smart, and with so many Raptor contracts expiring in 2020, I’m leaning towards neither player getting an extension this summer.

Masai is overrated.
I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

I doubt Fred even entertains an extension. He’s an nba starter imo and willl look elsewhere

Siakam will get extended.

There won't be a huge rush to do so with FVV especially not the ridiculous amount you're suggesting lol

I’m not sure TOR is even keeping Siakam.

Let’s see how these AD talks pan out and whether Kawhi stays.

Kawhi & Pascal scored 1,187 PTS during the 2019 NBA postseason... that’s the 2ND most PTS by a duo in NBA history!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1️⃣ LeBron & Wade (2012) - 1,222 PTS
2️⃣ Kawhi & Pascal (2019) - 1,187 PTS
3️⃣ Jordan & Pippen (1992) - 1,187 PTS
4️⃣ Olajuwon & Drexler (1995) - 1,175 PTS
5️⃣ Shaq & Kobe (2000) - 1,172 PTS

I promise you!!!! Toronto is KEEPING Siakam !!
He WILL NOT be involved in any trades! Including for AD
