Having traded a supporting cast the lakers had years to build around, they've got superstars without aacast to support them.

The most hilarious part is this is a superstar they could have signed as a free agent while keeping the supporting cast neccesary to win chips. Instead the Lakers have no assets and what could have been a decent stretch with several shots at contention, the lakers have went all in to "compete" with far better balanced rosters for a year or two before slinking back into irrelvancy.

Gotta love shortsighted management. A perfect sequel to the season where they gave the clippers a playoff spot for mike muscala.

They basically made a huge gamble on Kyle Kuzma. I guess we'll see if he'll turn out better than Ball, Hart and Ingram combined.

If the lakers actually thought kyle kuzma was more valuable than bi or lonzo. Oh boy...

The Lakers have a 1 year title window only anyway. Actually smart to go all in now. Because make no mistake about it, the Warriors will be back in 2020 and an aging 36 year old Lebron won't stop them.

If you have a 34 year old Lebron, your focus is next season. This idea that they should punt next season in order to get AD as a free agent is absurd. Get him now, win now.

Lakers are a poorly run franchise sure but criticising them for this move is beyond stupid.

I like your logic of waiting and getting him for free. That certainly worked with George and Kawhi.....

A year ago at this time:

Rate the young cores in the NBA—Lakers’ core not rated by anybody other than some Lakers fans.

2018-2019: Caruso winds up with more VORP than Ingram, Kuzma+Ball+Ingram don’t really do anything and everyone calls them trash assets when AD trade first gets mentioned this year

Today: What a haul for the Pelicans! What are the Lakers doing?

Yeah... top free agents just lining up to sign with LA like Paul George did or like Kawhi absolutely will

Lets laugh at a franchise who got the best player on the planet for nothing and then another top5 player on his prime for a bunch of picks and young players, while keeping Kuzma and still have capspace.

They paid a good (and not so small) price, but they did not give up that much value (for the chmapionship window they have).

Ball could still end up not being able to play in a team who has the ambition to win.
Ingram is going to get paid and it is more than questionnable if he is/will be wort a max contract (and that seems to be his projection for his next contract).
Hart is a decent roleplayer, but still has to find a way to consistently contribute.
The fourth pick (and the future firsts) is valuable, but does not align with Lebrons window.

In return they got a superstar who might be the best complimentary player (doesn't need the ball, can stretch the floor, is one(or maybe THE) of the best and versatile defenders in the league) in the league.

Now they are able to add another superstar and are probably in the most desirable location in the league. They can get the best of the best ring chasers.

The lakers were a 50 win team without any shooters, The notion that they needed two superstars to win is laughable. And the notion that you should tie your franchise's title hopes to an aging lebron is equally idiotic.

This is disingenuous.

Lebron isn't any 34 year old.

Except 35 year old Lebron without good role players is probably better then 36 year old Lebron with good role players.

It's actually hilarious to me anyone thinks this team has any shot against whoever comes out of the east.
