I wouldn't have given up Kyle either. surprising they gave up Hart. 3&D low usage players are so valuable. keeping Kyle they keep a stretch 4 who can run the full court.

That 34 year is still better than any player in Knicks history.

This is disingenuous.

Lebron isn't any 34 year old.

and yet you've just shortened your window by about 8 years to accomodate him....

Imagine thinking its a good idea to both 1) acquire arguably the best player in the league who has maybe 3 great years left and then 2) continue to develop 20yos who might hit their prime in 5 years.

If the old guy can get you a title now, you go all in now.

And everyone in knicks history is a better player than you. What's your point?

My point makes complete sense. Yours doesn't given that I am not playing for the Lakers.

A team with a core that's ~ 20 years old has a one year window?

What window?

There is no window without Lebron

Ingram, Lonzo and Kuzma is not a window providing core

Oh yes, the team that was onpace for 50 wins without shooters doesn't have a window providing core.

i didn't talk about you in my comment. I talked about LeBron. You got angry that Knicks have never had a player as good as 34 year old LeBron.

Shouldn't you be worried about your own window with a 32 yr Durant coming off an achilles tear?

Because of Lebron....

Only a fool would think that team would amount to anything without Lebron.

Oh? How exactly did lebron's lakers do when lonzo went out? Lebron was not playing like the best player in the regular season and they were doing fine with 20 year olds while lebron was le resting the most he's done his whole career. Shooting would have mad eyou contenders, instead you went ahead and traded away a defensive anchor, a good shot contestor, playmaking, and volume scoring for a single player who can't hope to match the collective production of the players he's replaced. You can spam "top 5 player" "superstar" as much as you wish. Stars don't win championships, versatile rosters with an abundance of playmaking, strong defence, and good spacing do.

Lakers best case scenario is being clowned by the ecf champion. The floor is a couple second round exits. Stars can't win without supporting casts, and the lakers traded away their supporting cast for a star they didn't need.

This is a bad, bad take that will age terribly when the Lakers win the title. In this league, when you can get a guy like AD you do it no matter what.

I mean the Lakers have to go all in next year... if they don't that could be it. Lebron is old and he is very likely to start having more injury issues like he did last year and just be worse in general.

On top of that, as long as they don't reach and sign or take bad contracts, they will have AD to build around in a couple of years. They'll have to do it through free agency since they're giving up so many picks, but after Lebron is done they may have space to re-tool.

The thing about getting AD is that it is not just a win now move, it is not just a win later move, it is for both the present and the future. The guy is 26 after all...

Don't forget Lakers also lost Randle and Russell to get to this point. Lot of lost draft capital.
