D Russell - FA Value
Curious what type of contract you think D Russell will get next. I could see 15-17 per year max, but some have suggested he will get a 20/25 type offer. There will definitely be money to go around.

Full four year max, no question whatsoever.

Yup and whoever offers him that will likely get him. Wish Magic had the Max room.
I’d love to package 16 & EF for salary dump, waive Moz then renounce Vuc and I think we’d be close.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

Sounds like he will be a UFA, so I’d be shocked if he didnt get the full 27.25M projected max.

Full max, several teams will offer it outright, others will pursue it in a sign and trade

I don't think the Pacers can over over 18 and even that would require giving up on Bogie. I personally don't see the need for us to spend that much money on a point guard, but many pacer forum members disagree.

We can offer a full max, keep Bojan’s cap hold to re sign at up to $18.375m in his first year, and still have around $5m in cap space. Then the room exception after all that.

does that require renouncing Thad, DC, & CoJo? I wouldn't do it regardless.Scoot McGroot wrote:Wizop wrote:I don't think the Pacers can over over 18 and even that would require giving up on Bogie. Yes. But if we go after D’Lo, DC and CoJo are leaving regardless. Thad is the loss, but based on interviews from Pritchard, it sounds like he’s not coming back unless he takes a major paycut. If so, see if you can move Dougie’s salary for nothing using a couple 2nds, and you could still offer Thad up to $13m in year one.

I don't see us moving Dougie. he's worth the money as a backup wing particularly if Vic starts the year on a pitch count. now Thad for 13 I think would sell but I read you as saying we'd have to move Dougie and renounce DC and CoJo to get there if we sign Russell.
my interest in Russell isn't that high, but I get that many disagree. he blossomed when moved to a team where he fit. I'm wishfully thinking we can find someone much cheaper who will benefit from our system.

Without McMillan, I don’t think we have a system.
To me, Russell blossomed in a stable environment, and based on his splits, projects his best playing 30+minutes a night. And, I just think that he, Oladipo, and Holiday could play together in almost any formation, and maybe even occasionally in 3 guard lineups. His max is relatively affordable, and he still seems on the upswing to me. I don’t guarantee it happening, and a different undervalued guard is more our style. More likely you see us try and re sign Wes for around $5m, either Collison or CoJo (both definitely aren’t returning in free agency, likely of their volition, not ours), and maybe a Morris brother instead and spending about the cap that way. Either way, outside of a Russell, I see us older and on one year deals kind of kicking the can to see if we can find another Bogie.

if stability matters, what do you think of Lonzo Ball? multiple threads suggest Lakers want to make room for a big name. might playing for Sarge be just what he needs?

I hope he doesn't go to the Pacers, they would be better than anyone besides maybe Milwaukee/Toronto(if Kawai stays) if he does.
Russell is severely underrated.

Will be interesting if Russell signs an offer sheet early but Kyrie takes his time.

Re: D Russell - FA Value
Utah will probably offer him the max 4/116.
We can do it by waiving Favors.
http://www.shamsports.com/capulator?id=5434115485d054715ee204441248882
After that, we can get 3/37.5 in cap by renouncing cap holds and waiving non guarantees, and still have the 2/9.7 MLE.
http://www.shamsports.com/capulator?id=17176285995d05495d92eeb017030196
That'd set us up for a try in the second round:
Russell / Exum / (Vet Min)
Mitchell / Allen / (FRP?)
Ingles / O'Neale
(3/37.5) / Crowder
Gobert / (2/9.7) / Bradley
I'd expect to make offers to Mirotic, Ariza, Bogdanovich, maybe Thad Young, Gay, Beverly. But I don't really know their markets well. Whatever is the best player available to Utah at 3/37.5.
Additionally, if we can move Exum and a future pick for one of the Hawk's current picks, we won't have to waive Favors.

In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

I'd rather gamble on D'Angelo and keep Bojan than any other options. Its not likely they'll get Kemba or Tobias Harris so this is the best chance to get an explosive PG who's still very young. Draft a PF/C or backup SG at 18 and it's a very solid lineup that can compete in the East if Victor is healthy.
Russell/Holiday
Oladipo/???/Sumner
Bogdanovic/McDermott

Maybe some type of sign and trade with Kyrie and then maybe the nets can land a pick or dump a players

If multiple teams want to give DLO the max, what is the best the Nets could do in a S&T?
