Being top heavy isn’t a good thing.

Raptors had depth, weren’t special players at all but they had enough depth.

Yeah if the Raps had lost Kawhi and/or Siakam they would have been fine.

What is so great about Kuzma? Maybe Griffin knew the Lakers were high on him for whatever reason and used the interest to exact extra assets. If I'm a Pelican fan the main thing is the picks and Ingrams health. Kuzma is worthless to a team like the Pelicans unless they plan on flipping him later.

They need players with star potential. The only guy that fits that bill is Ingram and possibly who they take at 4.

That would mean that LeBron has two rings to win before that point.

At age 34, I think LeBron will take that.

Pels obviously did well. It's a good trade for the Lakers even if the LeBron era flops. AD would still have plenty of time left to do serious damage.

You tried it.

Depth is important, we’ve seen what injuries have caused.

Also never mention Siakam in the sentence as ELITE NBA players.

Disagree in the respect that if you can have superstars AND depth, that's the best case scenario, but if you're trying to win a championship, superstars are gonna get you there, not depth. You're talking about a team that won championships with two superstars from 00-02. They had more depth in 09 and 10, but it was largely Kobe and Pau. You need the superstars FIRST. There have been teams like the Bad Boy Pistons who were deep and had Isiah (a superstar) and Dumars (a 2nd tier star) and they won twice, but Dumars was a great player in those years and won FMVP in 89. Hakeem had depth, but he was the best player in the world those years with Jordan playing baseball. I saw Hakeem and he elim'd the Lakers in 96 while making Vlade look hapless. He was serious as a heart attack good. Back to the point, it's the BIG NAMES that are most important. The Kawhi Leonards.

2000 Two Deep vs Too Deep (LA Times' headline on morning of Gm1 of the Conf Finals vs Porty). Lakers won agonizingly close, but they won. Ironically, their supporting cast WAS very important, but they were viewed as nothings compared to their cohorts from Portland. At some point, the law of diminishing returns takes effect when you got 20 forwards who are all about as good as each other.

So Lebron you need more help?

This is why people love Jordan more than you.

Lakers had to do this....next year may be the last chance given Lebron's age.

It still remains to be seen how good they will be since they have nothing much other than AD and Lebron right now. Not sure how I feel about what the Pelicans did..... Ingram does have potential if he stays healthy. I think Ball may bust, but I'm no expert and may be proven wrong. I do think extracting more picks instead of Kuzma was a smart move

Your argument would have merit if the Raptors had sustained significant injuries in the Playoffs.

But of course, they didn't. And they won because their stars stayed healthy.

There is no depth that can sustain losing KD and Klay. If anything the Warriors showed they had depth by making it to game 6, absent a top three player.

I agree. 35 year old James is good, but not like he used to be. His game style also seems to be set, and it requires him to dominate. So I'm not sure how much he can contribute once he hits a certain point.

The picks are more interesting to me than the assets. They're good roleplayers. But not a ton for a top 10 guy.
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

Relax with the "No Kuzma". Just an average role player, 4th option. They can draft 3 Kuzma's with the picks, not a big deal.

Also don't forget he starts the upcoming season as a 24-year-old. Ingram is 21-22 lol. It's crazy to think about some of the young players in the league when they will be 24.

This allows LeBron to age gracefully, then step it up in the playoffs.

I see AD winning MVP next season.
