Pels Target RJ Barrett

Post#1 » by mszymko » Sun Jun 16, 2019 12:16 am

Pels want to pair Barrett with Zion, but Knicks have their hearts set on Barrett. I suggest the Pels tell the Knicks that if they won't deal the #3 pick, they will work out a deal around Ball + #4 + 1st RD Pick(s) for #2 with Memphis who is looking for a young PG. Knicks are forced to work with Pels, resulting in:

Pels Out: Ball
Pels In: #6

Suns In: Ball
Suns Out: #6

Pels Out: #4 + #6 + Future 1st(s)
Pels In: #3

NY Out: #3
NY In: #4 + #6 + Future 1st(s)

*Pels: Jrue, Ingram, Barrett, Zion, Randle?

*NY: Knox, Dennis Smith, Mitchell + #4 + #6 + Future 1st(s)

*PHX: Ball, Booker, Warren/Jackson, Ayton

Can't think of anyone I'd rather see Pels move #4 and pair Zion with then RJ Barrett.

4/Ball/future picks is way too much for #3. Wouldn't even dream of it for the Pels.

I like any idea of overpaying for #2.

It's a massive overpay.. if they wanted a wing, Culver is every bit as good a prospect, and can be had at 4. To cough up Ball and future 1st's for him would be terrible.

The Pel's shouldn't be going after RJ anyway - they don't have a need on the wing, but they do have a need for shooting.. RJ doesn't fit.

Pel's should either take Garland at 4 (can play next to Lonzo or Holiday and provides elite shooting), or trade back.

The same world where the #3 pick is worth #4, #6 and a future pick?

Pels target Goga in a trade down. If they could get 8&10 Goga and Brandon Clarke would be best use of #4

They aren't even a good fit together. Barrett looked much better when Zion was out and obviously Zion would want more shooting from the perimeter players around him. The Pelicans could trade Lonzo for #7 and then just pick like Garland and Culver or Hunter and be much better off.

If Pels going to send 4 , 6, and Ball for Barrett I would hope that they at least called the Wizards about Beal first.

I think it’d have to be Jrue instead of Lonzo, but dunno how badly the Pels wanna get RJ. I heard Jrue wants out too, and the Suns wanna trade the #6 for a vet pg. Makes sense, but I dunno if the Pels get enough back even tho RJ n Zion together is pretty huge.

That is terrible for The Pelicans. In what universe does trading future picks plus Ball and #4 just to get to #3? I would rather take Hunter with #4 and call it a day. Lonzo is a terrible shooter but he's still a good passer and I think can be effective with The Pelicans.

Knicks are getting far tooooooooooooooo much just for dropping down one spot in the draft

Might of overpayed a bit but the principle still remains. They might have enough assets, and potentially leverage, to pair these two college studs together in the NBA. It would be a fantastic story line!
