1) Have trade in principle agreed upon with NOP, where LAL drafts #4 on NOP's direction, #4 salary is now counted towards LAL salary cap and available to use as trade

2) When FA officially starts, have all capholds renounced to free up 30% max slot (KCP, Rondo, Beasley, Stephenson, etc)

This link shows the salary breakdown pre AD trade, showing 30% max slot available

3) Sign 30% max FA (Kawhi, Butler, Kyrie, Kemba, etc)

4) July 6th, trade is finalized

Ingram - 7.26m
Lonzo - 8.72m
Hart - 1.93m
#4 - 7.06m
= 24.97m which is close enough to AD's 27.1m salary to match

AD doesnt need to waive his trade kicker, but im sure Jeannie would appreciate it itd save her 4 mil cash. Lakers go over the cap after the trade anyway and only have Room Exception + Vet mins to fill out the rest of the roster.

I think you mean MLE, not Room -- Room Exception only available if you're under the cap.

the room exception is the room MLE. it's given to teams that waive their full MLE to get under the cap, of which the lakers are

The only way I dislike Kawhi is if he joins the Lakers

Yeah they have enough with LBJ, AD, and Kuzma as the core. Need good role players to fill that sht out.

You guys have some recency bias. Look at the finals contenders who dominated this decade (Heat, Warriors, Cavs), I'm going for the 3rd star.

Kyrie is more likely than either of these two. Durant will want to prove he is the man. Kawhi has just proven he doesn't need a super friend team. LeBron's legacy is superfriends- he has not one a championship as the lone star on his team.

My guess is someone like Beverley is a likelier target.

both cases they have a chance to win the tittle

i dont know...i think i go top heavy...you can role players seem a lot greater when they are playing with lebron so you just need some fresh bodies with potential

I'd take him, we need some ruggedness and/or intensity.

Kemba seems the most realistic and maybe Butler. If not I would want 2 to 3 of Brogdon, Reddick, Lopez, Beverly, Danny Green with that space. I think Ariza probably comes for the vet min or mle but I don’t know how washed he is

you really think Kawhi is the type to join a superteam? I don't think so.

I doubt Kawhi will come to the Lakers. But if he does, would that be the best big 3 ever?

probably....that's three guys who have been in the top 3 discussion at some point in the last 2 or 3 years.

Hey genius. The AD trade is made after their free agent signing considering they have to wait 30 days until the # 4 pick is signed to trade him.

They should target Brogdon fo half of that cap space and then sign shooters. You only need Lebron and AD to facilitate, you need to surround them with shooters.

ya they should learn from the Warriors....we know that AD is injury prone, so all it would take is for AD to get injured during the playoffs and they're done.

This is literally the first thing I said in my group chat. We know that the 3rd star always under performs with Lebron teams. Lebron is just to good to take the ball out of his hands in clutch time for a guy like Kemba. You have your 2 superstars, if I'm the Lakers id go after 3 guys to fill out my roster.

Marcus Morris
Patrick Beverley
JJ Reddick

Those 3 would be my main targets. Then hope that Rondo, Tyson or Javale, and Lance come back for cheap.

Bev/Rondo
Reddick/Lance
Lebron
Morris
AD/Tyson

This is a tougher team than Lebron, Kemba, AD and a bunch of vet min guys.

Basileus777 wrote:KD is outright impossible. Lakers can get nowhere close to the 38 million in cap space they'd need for him.

Even if he was possible, he’s out for next season, would be odd for the Lakers to get a player who will be out for next season and take all their cap while having 35 year old LeBron on their team.
