That is much better then wasting quarter of their cap on one player. Lakers are better off going after after good role players .. like Patrick Beverley, Danny Green, Dante Cunningham, Mike Scott, Mbah Moute, etc ..

does this include the Deng stretch (5mil?)

Yes. I think I found the wrinkle.

If both sides agree to push back the trade call until July 30, Los Angeles will have $32.5 million in room to use in free agency. By waiting the 30 days, Los Angeles would be acting like a team over the cap and would be allowed to use the fourth pick in the draft as salary. If the trade is finalized on July 6, that number will shrink to $27.8 million.

okay now that make sense, didn't account for that

but...why would NOP agree to this?

I was under the impression that New Orleans would have to make the pick and then wait 30 days in order to make the money work. Ball, Ingram, and Hart won’t get you close enough to Davis’ salary for a trade. I could be off on this.

After all the talk about the Nets (and the Nets making a trade for cap space) it would be interesting if Kyrie chose to go to the Lakers.

Looks like Kyrie is backing out of his verbal commitment with the Nets

No way in hell you can fit Kawhi with the Lakers now. It would literally be impossible to fit him under the Cap now.

I’ll be impressed if the Lakers can get Kemba to join. High character guy who hasn’t explicitly said he wants to play in LA will be work to get.

i wouldn't care, the Lakers want Davis not the other way around, if that's what they wanted I would've pulled the plug.

you think the Lakers say no over 5 mil?

I think what's important is it looks like the Pelicans said yes over another team's 5 million for the opportunity to have the 4th pick in hand before the Lakers, and every other team with draft picks this year, drafted their own guy.

is there confirmation that they said yes?

because to me that's the difference between a good deal and great deal for the Lakers

There aren't many details now in general, I suppose there's no confirmation. We'll see. I'm also more of a proponent of breaking up that 27-32m into 2-3 yr contracts (align with Lebron) to build out a sustainable, good, deep team that actually plays for each other instead of their next deal. And I think if push came to shove, Kemba would take a 5m discount and easily make it up in LA with Jordan brand.

oh

2019/2020 Cap $109M.

LeBron is set to make $40M next season. Davis will get the max after next season and Kawhi will get the max this season.

You can not have 3 players eating up $120M of your cap lmao. Impossible.

Toronto or Clippers. Those are the only 2 cities Kawhi will end up with. Book it.

After the LaVar and Magic mess, I think Lakers fans want a return to professionalism and drama free basketball talent on the team.

That means Kemba esp if Charlotte decides to get cheap.

AD will waive the trade kicker. That puts them at 30% max is they waive Wagner/Bonga if I'm not mistaken. They can offer everyone the max except KD, who's not going there anyway and wouldn't make sense. Kemba might even take a slight discount if it lets them keep/acquire pieces.

i got 27.7 mil if my math is correct, but I did not waive Wagner or Bonga.

32.5 if AD waives the kicker. If the Lakers burn that cap they can complete the trade with a little cap judo.

Kawhi, AD, and old LaBron would require hiring half the staff at John Hopkins Clinic just to keep the guys upright.

Lakers should go after Jimmy Butler. He’s a second ball handler that also brings a strong defensive presence. Lakers will need defence on the wings. Butler is that dude. If it’s between Kyrie and Kemba, I choose Kyrie because his age at least lines up with AD.

Windhorst saying deal's happening at the end of July and #4 guy won't be playing in summer league. The Lakers will sign that kid on the 1st and ship him and the others to NO on the 31st after already having signed a max.
