Re: Fire Danny Ainge
The last puzzle piece is found the Top-5 superstar that can carry the team to championship. Danny and Brad give the key to Kyrie.
But it's wrong.
I feel bad after Danny can't flip the asset to PG, AD and especially Kawhi (the last one is my favourite player and I wish him become a Celtics). And I think it's very possible for convince Kawhi stays because Boston is a big market (enough) for his brand.
Now, we only hope for Hayward comes back and Jay-jay at least can develop to all-star level. And hit a grand-slam on the picks.
What a nightmare for me, C's fan and the league, after Gsw superteam, may be the next is Lakers becomes superteam.

You do understand that the Pels wanted Tatum/Smart and potentially 3 picks, maybe a pick swap as well. Irving is LEAVING. If AD leaves 1 year after we trade for him it'd take us 7-8 to come back cause we wont have any picks or players. We'd essentially be tanking for the Pels..... It's such simple logic and it seems a lots of you fail to realize it...
Looks at Nets several years ago and their situation compared to the Celtics. Looks where both teams are now. Nets might even be in a better position than the Celtics.
Looks like Ainge needed 5 years, all the cap space and assets to accomplish what Nets did with basically nothing.
Tnx for perfectly illustrating Nets situation compared to the Celtics and how inept Ainge has been.

The Nets with Irving and Harris arent beating us. Only way is if a healthy Durant is there. And nope, the Nets dont have a betrer squad than us.

I will let actual results do the talking. We had plenty of posters last year in Kawhi threads saying "Raptors still aren't on our level even with Kawhi". Nets are in a perfect position to overtake Celtics next season. And that's **** unacceptable when you consider where both of these teams started off.

Yea, we can discuss this once the rosters are complete.

Re: Fire Danny Ainge
Loser: The Boston Celtics
Ryan: In 2013—after dealing Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Nets for three first-round picks and a handful of spare parts—Boston looked primed to become the major transactional player for the rest of the decade, with an eye toward building the kind of superteam that won them the title in 2008. They’ve certainly made a lot of noise, but you’d be hard-pressed to say they lived up to expectations. Kyrie Irving has come and likely gone, Gordon Hayward still looks a ways away from his past glories, and they’ve missed out on Kevin Durant, Paul George, and Kawhi Leonard. Now their rivals in Los Angeles have landed Anthony Davis. This isn’t an “are we sure Danny Ainge is good?” troll job—Boston has one of the best coaches in the league, and Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have the potential to be one of the most dynamic wing duos—but … there aren’t really any more guys for the Celtics to pursue, right? They either failed to land or keep a generation of All-NBA talent. For years, we’ve been hearing about how nobody had a better war chest than Ainge. But what did it get him?

The cold hard truth. All for **** naught. Used up all our assets and are left with two guys who could "potentially" be good down the line and a broken former all star. Again, I attribute this mostly to bad luck, but Ainge missed some major opportunities.

Toronto wasn't at our level, our team management was awful.

Indeed. The idea that Ainge is too risk averse is ... well, it's beyond ridiculous.

That doesn't mean anything, results and talent level are two entirely different beasts. They just beat GS a team 4 times more talented.

Yes it does. Saying a championship team "wasn't at our level" is just ridiculous. The fact that they had a top 5 player and we didn't gave them the edge in competing for a title. No team has won a title without a top 5-7 guy since the '04 Pistons.

What have the Nets honestly done? They scraped into an awful eastern conference playoffs as a 7 seed with a substitute All star in the East. Now they're clearing cap space to sign a PG to replace the one they already have. We already know Kyrie doesn't single handedly lift teams, so at best that's more of a lateral move. Unless they can sign another big FA they're not much better off than this year

I think KD will sign there. Yes won't help them next season but will the season after.
Bottom line is despite at what the time we thought was a one sided trade the nets, while they may, not have won anything are ahead of the Celtics which is absurd.

The mistake Ainge made was not trading Kyrie Irving at the trade deadline

I feel that way, too wonder what offers he had for him, cause I'm sure there were some.

Hundred percent true. All Ainge has to show all those assets he has right now is Tatum and brown. I don't see how anybody can be happy how this worked out.

No, mistake was not trading Rozier. There wasn't room for both those guys on the team beacause Rozier never accepted his backup role in his contract year.
