Hard to argue against this now.

Just came here to post this. It was clear that Irving was gone and Danny kept sucking up to him. Meanwhile the Knicks traded Porzingis for very little. Seems like a golden opportunity lost.

The whole Kyrie episode is what really lowers my confidence in Ainge. How he wasn’t able to recognize much sooner that Irving needed to go and was willing to throw half the team under the bus to try to keep him is a problem. I would expect that kind of behavior from the Knicks but not the Celtics. I see Irving as the PG version of Carmelo.

I feel that way, too wonder what offers he had for him, cause I'm sure there were some.
I think the Raptors called the Celtics. Ainge hung up on them as he should. They got some nerve those fugly Raps.

No, mistake was not trading Rozier. There wasn't room for both those guys on the team beacause Rozier never accepted his backup role in his contract year.

They didn't trade Rozier because they knew Irving was going to walk. I think Danny it is around December but for whatever reason just didn't do anything.

Maybe they feared it, but they didn't know it. If they wanted to convince Kyrie, best way to do that was to create a winning team that plays to his strenghts. Trading Rozier would definitely help. Even if Kyrie still left, Rozier wouldn't be a big loss at all. You can find a point guard like that very easily.

Correct. Danny sacrificed this season for the future. Rozier was a huge issue by all accounts.

I wonder why a team like Phoenix didn't trade Booker or Ayton for Davis..or why Denver didn't offer Murray and 5 picks..or why Philly didn't offer Simmons and 4:picks...

Oh yeah. Because teams are not **** stupid. LA paid full value for AD because he is 100% coming back. Why is it so hard to understand why we didn't trade our biggest trade pieces for the guy? Like why?

WOW.

If Tatum is "our best player" then guess what? That's part of the **** problem.

If you cant admit that, then theres not a single reason to be in this thread.

Criticizing danny ainge is not allowed, everyone knows Jayson Tatum is the best player in the world kyrie was just holding him back like Rosier and now that he's leaving we're going to have 8 all-stars on the roster. The Celtics fanbase has spoken.

A reminder it's June 16 and Anthony Davis is not the only player in the league.

That doesn't mean anything, results and talent level are two entirely different beasts. They just beat GS a team 4 times more talented.

Yes it does. Saying a championship team "wasn't at our level" is just ridiculous. The fact that they had a top 5 player and we didn't gave them the edge in competing for a title. No team has won a title without a top 5-7 guy since the '04 Pistons.

Kyrie is a top 5-7 guy, even all-nba teams say that. Beside that one player doesn't make a team.

Not to mention he's not even our best player. There is no argument for him being better than Horford
