Kerresed brought up something similar the other day. If the suns do lock up a FA and need to stretch Johnson they should make a call to Washington to see if they would take Johnson for mahimni. Gives them a playable guard for guy they don't play. Suns stretch mahimni and save a little over 3mil total over the stretch.

that would be a good trade -- see if the Wizards would be interested.

I am still hopeful of the Cavs deal for JR Smith and Zizic. Would save about 13.1m in cap. Mahimi would say 14m in year 1 but still have two years of around 5.2m. Granted, one DLo takes a lot of the Suns cap space too. Plus Tyler and probably Josh or Warren. I know one guy in the NBA can be huge but hope they would still have some way to improve roster as well.

Wow. Dinwiddie kinda pushing for a Suns trade? Kyrie must be a done deal to Brooklyn.

While I don't think dinwiddie is opposed to getting sent to Phoenix I think overall he's just been having some fun with trade rumors.

This specifically is him throwing some shade at Detroit. They drafted him and it didn't work out.

LOL...
Bulls fan here....
This would be more fun if we could have a joint team thread...

Being that we have the same needs, draft right next to each other, and have money to throw at the same FA's...the comments are almost identical on the forums....same arguments and all. (Are you pro or anti D-Lo? Do you overpay Brodgon? Are you sold on Garland? White? BPA?)

The only difference are the avatars and user names!
Jealousy is a sickness.......get well soon....

Yeah, I agree. I think it might be hard for him/his ego to play on a team with his best friend who makes more money than him though. If he comes here, I bet it would have to be a max (Book might even be pushing for that if he wants to get his friend paid)

It will be the max. Just won’t be a five year max. If Sarver wants to low ball again DLo will simply go to the next highest bidder which seems like it could possibly be the Wolves if they make the cap space.

I believe his max is $27.5M for the upcoming year. If we keep our draft pick, stretch Tyler Johnson, trade Josh Jackson for just cap space, renounce everyone but Kelly Oubre we should have around $29M. If we trade our 2nd round pick or get an overseas player that stays overseas, we might not have to renounce Holmes, and can just go over the cap to sign him too.

I still think there is a way to extend/redo his deal and gain 8-9 mill cap room... peddle Jackson and #6 for future considerations and there is another 10. I just don’t quite have the grasp of the cap game though to know if that is even feasible

But Give me a guard rotation of Book, TJo, and DLo with Bridges, Oubre AND Warren as wings... and Ayton. we are almost set. Plenty of fire power there and some D. That’s a good seven to build on. And they’d be locked in for 4 more yrs

Good question. I had a look around and couldn't find anything so I would love to know too

I really can't see a realistic situation where we would redo his deal. A new deal would need to be lucrative enough for him to forgo the $19m and aside from that I'm not sure I'm keen on extending him after having only played 13 games with us.

Yeah, he'd probably need like $15 a year or something. You have to think about it if you had cap space, would he really be a target? Would you want to give him multiple double digit years right now? I don't think so. Not if we are also giving Kelly multiple double digit years.

Maybe I'm late to this, but is he low-key confirming the Suns as his favorite team?

He’s hyping the Suns up for his boy DLoading.

I think he really just likes purple and doesn’t wanna live in Detroit. Can’t blame em for the second part.

For Russell - counting on it being 27.5 - max first year. Too many teams have money and he would be a viable option to pay that rate. In the above scenario - trading Russell for Tyler/Josh. That seems pretty fair both dollar wise and from a talent perspective on the court. If you keep the FRP - and get somebody like Clarke to play the 4. Still would have - I believe - a 4.4m exception to fill out the roster.

I can see it going both ways - throwing all your eggs in one basket for a guy like Russell to really give yourself three potential VERY good players in Book, Russ and Ayton, other guys like Oubre and Bridges, Warren and some vet minimum guys. Or taking the 27.5 - get a PG, PF and a third player, shooter type to build a team with a bit more depth

Beal is still my #1 choice based on what the Suns have said they want a combo guard that can play some point next to Booker, i think he more than anyone takes this team to the next level. Not sure we have the assets to make it happen without including Bridges, but I damn sure would Try, #6, JJ, Mil, TJ Future 1st, that could get you pretty close...
