They better come away with Pat Bev or someone good with their exceptions this summer. Otherwise this draft will look even worse.

It would appear they promised him they'd get him on the basis that he got within reach. When he did they made the move. No-one knows who would have jumped in and took him so I'm fine with how they handled this. He's clearly been their number one guy from the jump and the fact that Matisse basically snubbed every other team and WANTED to come to the Sixers tells me all I need to know about the kid.

Exactly, leading up to the Draft Elton told us he wanted players who can play NOW. Most fans probably thought it was a smoke screen or just talk. Elton stuck to what he said people wanted a sexy 2nd round pick. The 76ers got there guy at 24 people just hate that it was the Celtics. I could care less u got your guy the 76ers were planning to use that second round pick anyway. All Ainge has done is collect draft picks NOTHING ELSE! Traded for Kyrie didn't work. All those Assets and u can't land a top tier star

In my view the "right" draft would have been:

#24 and #42 for #20 (Thybulle)
#33 Fernando
#34 as executed
#54 Simmons dump
#57 Zach Nowell or Shayok if they like him

Basically we're short of a Fernando.
In case you need cap space you could trade him later.
This would have been a better execution imho.

That’s a very Colangelo response. Nobody expected you to take 5 picks Elton...... but maybe you could do your job and find at least 1 prospect from our picks in the low to mid 30’s

I had given Brand the benefit of the doubt until now. But he didn't even attempt to get a shooter
at 34. And all that talk about freeing up cap space by trading Jonathan Simmons is Colangelo double-
speak. Last night was an abject failure unless he hit with Thybulle.

BTW: nbadraft.net's Nick Prevenas was quite bullish about the pick. I have no idea if the guy knows
what he's talking about. Nevertheless, here's what he wrote:

I can't lie - this is my favorite non-Zion, non-Ja player in the entire draft. Thybulle is what might happen if Ronnie Lott had chosen to play basketball over football after he self-amputated part of his pinkie finger. Thybulle has the potential to win Defensive Player of the Year in a season where he takes less than six shots per game. He has no interest in serving as an offensive star, but he can make just enough 3s to keep a defense honest. But anytime a player at 6-foot-5 can post 3.5 steals and 2.3 blocks for an entire season, you have no choice but to take him seriously. Go ahead and take a flyer on the untapped offensive potential of someone who barely cares about basketball. Give me the guy who will obliterate your whole world on defense. The 76ers traded up to get Thybulle, and he immediately fills the Robert Covington vacancy on what could be the best defensive team in the league next season. Great job by the Sixers.

Anyway, big disappointment.

Well, we certainly got old players, Brand wasn't lying.

I just don't get it. You don't draft these players to contribute next year, you draft them to maintain depth for future years. What is he going to do with all these roster spots? If he really thinks he can sign multiple veterans for the minimum, who can actually contribute, then he's in for a surprise.

The best franchises in the NBA win around the margins, we've done the opposite ever since Hinkie left.

Oh and please tell me you're signing some UDFA's , because there a certain amount available who might develop into NBA players.

For my own sanity I'm just going to trust they just got Robert Covington. If Thybulle can get back to shooting the 3 like he did when he played with Fultz, maybe he can be something.

Celtics converting #20 and #22 in Grant Williams, Carsen Edwards, a future 1st round pick and maximum cap space makes me feel dead inside.

What a terrible draft night performance. Won't be long before this team is back on the treadmill. A player leaves here, a player injured out of stardom there and that's that. No young blossoming difference maker in back to back drafts with a ton of picks.

Well, nbadraft.net gave Markelle Fultz a 100 score and had him #1 in its 2017 mock draft. Not knowing
the analyst, I wouldn't put too much credence in his evaluation unless someone can vouch for him.

This was the prime rookie GM draft.
- Let his cards be known by other teams
- Bought into the 'if he's older he can contribute' narrative
- Sold late picks with potential gems on the board
Overall terribly shortsighted.

Nassir Little dropping all the way to #25 surprises me with the way NBA values prospects. He would have actually made sense for us tbh. I think he's capable of hitting spot up threes and his man-on-man defense makes him playable in a limited usage role.

Try to bring him up to speed during his rookie contract and who knows if he develops in a shot creating wing like he was during his senior year in HS.

If we didn't trade up, we would have gotten at least one of Thybulle, Williams or Little along with #33 pick. They must have been really locked in on Thybulle and scared that OKC would pick him.

I think it's a terrible trade from a value perspective.

A lot of wallowing from arm chair gm’s because the team didn’t pick their favorite player they scouted on YouTube....in the 2nd round.

Of course there’s still work to be done on the roster, but if they can add a starting 2 guard and a backup C we’ll be just fine. We already have a very good spark scorer off the bench...JJ. Just gotta find the starter and that wasn’t coming from this draft regardless.

JJ
Zhaire
Thybulle
Scott
Vet big man

Thats a much improved bench from what we had last year and that’s just using the MLE. There’s still the possibility of keeping Ennis and/or adding vet minimum guys.

would love to scoop up shamorie ponds. i'm good with thybulle and shayok. shayok can handle the rock (compared to let's say terance davis for example who I like but who is extremely right handed and turns the ball over when forced to use his left). only miss for me is daniel gafford. and one of the reasons i was so adamant about him is because i think most everyone else in the 2nd round is highly unlikely to be succesful in the nba. even shayok's lack of athleticism works against his considerable skillset. very much like 2015, i think.

*loved the celtics draft. ainge accumulates picks, but never takes dudes i like and always takes dudes i dont really care for. i like romeo langford, but i'm not scared of evan turner jr. we didn't get gafford, but neither did the celtics. nor did they get goga bitadze.

*smitty's shadow sixers: Dejounte Murray, Dennis Smith Jr, Justise Winslow, Mitchell Robinson, Daniel Gafford

Neither one of them are going to be anything significant in the NBA.

Lol, we keep doing this even after the draft?

I get it, you don't like them. My best case scenario was walking out of this draft with those guys. That the Celtics are the ones that do makes it hard for me to stomach (plus they offloaded Baynes AND an additional 1st round pick).

I've got a funny feeling that Carsen Edwards is gonna be a guy that drops 40 on us but sucks against every other team.
