The Mavericks tried the same thing with Doncic and it was a mess with DSJ. He can’t play off ball. Off ball is more than athleticism, it’s IQ and willingness to know when to cut to the rim or find open pockets.

Different system and playstyle. I feel like RJ and DSJ can actually bond together on and off the court.

Also just because something didnt work once doesnt mean you give up and say its impossible. These kids are still learning the game

A: On the court I’m a killer, I’m competitive. Anything the coach needs me to do I can do.

29% from 3 as a Knick in total (made 24 of 83). You can blame some of that on him and some of that on playing on a young team. Would be amazing if he really pulled it together this year because he clearly has the talent.

Im saying maybe DSJ needs to humble himself and be willing to change which im confident Fiz will help develop. Playing with younger guys that you can bond and relate to can def help you be fully engaged and locked in. I honestly dont think Dallas system and players fit DSJ at all.

30% on catch and shoot 3s on the year, but 38% his rookie year

I think he can get his shot to work, he's just young and inconsistent

35% from 3 in total as a Mav this season too. Tbh, I am not worried about his shooting. He was even a decent shooter coming out of college. Just inconsistent. He’ll be fine in that aspect imo. What I am worried about is his free throws tho. Don’t know if him playing hurt affected him or it’s something mental. I’m sure he’s addressing that in the off-season. Here’s to hoping he breaks out next year and we finally found our long term PG :D

great question to find this community. raptors board might know.

I've never found anything better than the long running thread we have on the Raptors board which tends to cover less of the NBA guys and more of the following:

- U16/U17/U18/U19 FIBA Teams ("HairCanada" does a ton of great write-ups on these teams so that we have a better idea of who to look out for)
- Updates on our guys overseas playing in EuroLeague, EuroCup, etc
- Updates on our NCAA guys ("Mojo" "Frumble" "aminiaturebuddha" do a great job of scoping guys out - I'm pretty sure Mojo was onto Brandon Clarke pre-Gonzaga before the Media even knew he was Canadian)

We also talk a lot of ish about who is and isn't playing on the team and why. Andrew Wiggins is out, Jamal Murray is in as Canada's savior, etc.

big thanks. i figured your board would be a great place to find this.

thanks for everything, thibs.

good point...sometimes when you bond with a person- said person can help you to see things that you couldn't see- especially if
you respect said person and feel that they're your peer...

I didnt word that properly. Im not only talking about DSJ bondin with RJ. I think he can have a good bond with the team and that can ultimately lead to good chemistry.

If he does not fit tho I think he as a 6th man should be an option that we continue. I think RJ can be our point foward.

Exactly! Sometimes we are to hard on these guys. Alot of times these young guys are simply not ready or comfortable enough yet. Its all about doing small things to build confidence. It doesnt matter what profession you are in, Sometimes you work better around certain people.
